🚨 I AM MOVING OUT ON SHORTER NOTICE. MY FAMILY SUCKS ASS AND I AM GETTING OUT OF HERE. CW for some details re: ableism, emotional/mental abuse, and overall very shitty/paranoid parenting in my current situation. { 1/7 } ko-fi.com/m0llystars

hey so heads up, i'm going to have a more serious post coming up pretty soon (later today?) regarding me moving out i haven't had to make a post like this before, but things have been admittedly very dicey on my end and in case it seems out of nowhere of me, just know it's been brewing for a while.

Europe is not in decline, despite what people who are bothered by our low inequality say. We don't need extremist politics. We need EU integration, more immigration, more investment in science, more housing and infrastructure, and repression of the extreme right.

obsession with narratives of national decline -> extremist politics to reverse the decline -> collapse of national institutions many such cases

ZELENSKYY: Ukraine belongs in NATO, because NATO with Ukraine is the alliance for the future. Alliance of today must be up to challenges of modern world — with Ukraine, with strength of our defense industry and, most importantly, resilience and experience of our people.

Also applies to Norway.

Social worker in Finland explains why Finland ended all social problems and she has no work to do except poasting: we base all of our policy on factoids we read in text JPEGs shared on social media - the opposite of what America does.

Lol, Norway’s biggest news conglomerate Schibsted wants to sell the approximate location (within 500m) of basically every Norwegian to dozens of companies. You can pay not to share. You still have to pay extra to read the paywalled articles. And even if you’ve paid twice they’ll still show you ads.

PSA: Bluesky's new auto-tagging moderation stuff is a disaster. Disable it. Go into Settings on the Bluesky site and enable adult content and set everything to Warn at most, which makes posts opt-in. Hide just vanishes posts. Then go into Advanced/Bluesky Mod Service and do the same on everything.

This is a graph of the inclination vs semi-major axis (distance from the sun) of 1,249,051 asteroids in the asteroid belt. Using proper elements allows us to see the belt's fine structure, including asteroid families that are fragments of past collisions. Each asteroid is (roughly) to scale.

I'm in @liberalcurrents.com today, talking about Iran, the difference between a campaign and a war, and the way in which even excellent operational planning can prove less than useless if applied without a coherent strategy.

Liberal Currents@liberalcurrents.com

From the Japanese Empire to Trump’s America, “It is possible to achieve the objectives of your campaign and still lose the war—and you’re more likely to do so if you’re not thinking rigorously about why you’re fighting the war and what you want to gain from it.”

I think everyone should support some legislation that requires new datacenters to be built with solar panels that can provide >80% of the total power usage. If it turns out that AI is bubble, we'll have all these solar panels that can be made into solar farms.

The currently escalating tech backlash must be put in the context of: “people have been listening to the most insufferable techbros in the world gleefully threaten everyone else with mass unemployment for over 6 years, and they’re sick of their shit”

Kraz@thatkraz.bsky.social

Feels longer than 3 years cause same brand of tech bro was telling me the blockchain would put me out of a job while making them ungodly wealthy since at least 2020.

So I liked a few posts by people saying that the Holodomor was real, and a few minutes later I got added to the list "Neo Liberal Holocaust Deniers". Weird.

6 million Jewish people were murdered during the Holocaust. On Yom HaShoah, we honor their memory. It is our responsibility to fight back against antisemitism, violence, and hatred in all forms. Never again.

this was a great conversation because, when it comes to tariffs, there's a level of technical analysis "what even are the rates actually" "what impact have they had" "etc" and then there's the point where @josephpolitano.bsky.social is just like "yeah it's corruption"

It’s the most FT thing in the world to describe the manosphere as a market failure but it somehow doesn’t detract from this very good piece as.ft.com/r/c3d11403-b...

My copy of Dark Science volume 1 just arrived. It's flipping huge. I think the Kickstarter said something about it being suitable as a blunt force weapon, and I believe it. Anywho, the pages of the comic are absolutely *gorgeous* in this format. #DresdenCodak #DarkScience
