in 2027 I resolve to respect my Cuban heritage by (checks notes) using more Ricky Ricardo gifs

Me, getting supplies from suppliers and in turn supplying things to others: a supply chain going on in this establishment? Shocking

Also more seriously I think the quoted post is why I struggle so much with “but my open source is not a supply chain”: you’re taking supplies of code, refashioning it, and supplying it to others! And they’re taking it from you! It’s a supply chain!

A very weird one that pushes a lot of boundaries! one that has very different moral valences than most supply chains! etc etc But still things being supplied, in a chain.

To be more explicit about the weird parts (but this could be a whole book): bsky.app/profile/lu.i...

Yuppp. All true: this is a supply chain; it’s a (unique?) supply chain where the suppliers did not agree* to any of the normal obligations of suppliers; & the parties being supplied are ideologically incapable of conceiving any price other than “free”. *arguably explicitly rejected IN ALL CAPS

An important one even But also to a rounding error no one involved in this supply chain reads books? I have no idea how to square that with the effort involved to write one Do I need to nail theses to Jim Zemlin’s door or what

"my [thing] is not a [phrase with a bunch of connotations to it]" "but your [thing] literally fits the dictionary definition!" "I reject the category of [thing] because once you call it [thing] there are [deeply undesirable implications] because of [stigma/laws/other social constructs]"
