Quite. Also GDP, and therefore tax revenues to do social democracy with.

More to come on this, but those Labour MPs opposing talking about freedom of movement need to be aware that they are also condemning UK manufacturing to more barriers and probably further decline. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Related: I’m still looking for leads and help on jobs, fellowships, and freelance contracts on drones, GIS, aid, disaster, OSINT, tech ethics, and journalism. I simply will not work for evil people and/or weapons manufacturers, which is also why I haven’t had paying work since Trump 2.0 began.

Drone tech has so many incredible applications for so many industries and if you want to make any sort of living you have to work for an illiterate Nazi pervert dweeb who collects erotic anime figurines.

These people don’t want to win; they don’t even want to persuade. They want a world where they are a pure and rarified elite, with none of the responsibilities of actual power, only the smug gratification of being right.

I see there's still nothing from @greenparty.org.uk or @scottishgreens.org about Plaid Cymru's shameful NIMBYism on the vital grid upgrades necessary for the energy transition.

Are you a Labour MP (or office staff for same)? Have you been contacted by GB News & asked about my estimates of how (2024) constituencies voted in the EU referendum? Please remember: that was 10 years ago. Some people die, some turn eighteen—& most importantly, some change their mind!

Amazing visualisation of our grid and the balancing costs of renewables at the other end of the country far from equivalent demand. Clean but definitely not cheap for a long time yet.

Robin Hawkes@robhawkes.bsky.social

How did the grid react as Storm Austen and Storm Boelo passed through over the weekend? I pulled this together over the weekend. It's part of a new video format that I'm exploring to better explain what's going on within the energy system and the wider context surrounding it (such as the weather).

I've always believed Oxford Street could be so much more than a road. Today we begin a new chapter as the nation’s high street goes traffic free, creating a place where people can spend time, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the very best of our city.

@finnob.bsky.social this may be up your traffic calmed street?

Viscerally upset by the Beth Upton stuff. They won't be satisfied until they have hounded a woman – who the tribunal explicitly found had done nothing wrong – to her death. Btw the "incident" in Australia is that a patient worried she *might* be forced to be treated by her. She of course wasn't.

The tech world gets a lot easier to understand once you suss that Americans like the idea of their children far more than they actually like their children. It's an inherently dehumanising and narcissistic parenting culture where children are extensions and status symbols, not independent humans.

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

Thank you to the engineers working around the clock to restore power to customers in difficult conditions following Storms Austen and Boelo. While we know there are many still without power, over 670,000 customers have now had supplies restored since the storms started.

Of course it's an audi

Andrew Watt@andrewwatteu.bsky.social

The shame of it! CEO #Döllner joins a Trump rally in Georgia to announce investment worth $4 bn in a new #Audi plant. With mid-terms voting already open, he validates 2 key Trumpist lines in a battleground state. Tariffs force competitors to onshore. And internal combustion engines are the future. 🤦

most left of centre people at least generally know what to make of someone who responds to a report finding more racism by desperately trying to discredit the report and say there's no issue at all. It's always interesting to see when exceptions are made
