There you have it.

So it seems that #Twitch normal staff are also pissed at the gen AI crap, but big daddy Amazon makes the rules so they don't get a choice. GREAT! infosec.exchange/@0xabad1dea/...

Be nice if actual Twitch staff could do things like fix bans that were issued without reason cuz bad actors know how to make that happen. Two years now since my account was stolen and no way to reach a human being to fix it.

Just going to throw this out there, if a streamer opts out of Amazon's data harvesting but still uses extensions like Tangia or bots like Frostytools that use GenAI in unethical ways, it's pretty much for naught.

I think it's overly optimistic to think that we can make a change by proving we dislike AI. More likely Twitch takes those numbers to their overlords and the Amazon execs say "ok, so how do we trick them into doing it?"

No need to trick. They'll just come to the conclusion you don't get to opt out anymore and if you use twitch you are training their models and fuck you, what are you going to do? Use Kick?

Thanks for reading, yadda yadda yadda, i stream fighting games and cyberpunk stuff and sometimes rant about hard left politics, yadda, give me ad revenue and visit my kofi or whatever, yadda, thanks for the viral engagement, have a good night. twitch.tv/lulztime ko-fi.com/lulztime

a vtuber i follow, who was part of twitch staff many years ago, called this possibility out exactly. though her reasoning was "Twitch has never operated at a profit, Amazon buys out Twitch, now Amazon wants to force some profitability out of one of their assets, so the forced AI thing".

Which is dumb as hell because AI doesn't make them money either. It's taking one unprofitable thing and jamming another even more unprofitable thing inside it hoping for something profitable to come out he other side.

correct, but you have to understand that every "ai" bro is beyond desperate to make that shit make money and the only way to do it is attempt forcing it into everything they can. desperation and endless greed are a dangerous combo in a stubborn mind.

thanks for the headsup. i had to click ... for: "more --> settings and privacy --> privacy and safety --> Grok & Third-Party Collaborators". only here could i tick off that training option. not that i use this "X" account all that much anymore, at all. but the less they have the better.

I couldn't find the setting on Twitch's Andriod app, so I had to log in on my laptop and opt-out there, but yeah 5 minutes is so worth it to tell AI to F Off.

I haven't seen anyone talk about these two things at the same time yet, but they do feel related: bsky.app/profile/keta... (with more info and links in the rest of the thread)

Here's Amazon's two new planned fossil-fuelled AI data centres next to the ENTIRE POWER GRIDS OF SEVERAL LARGE COUNTRIES Together, the two gas-burning data centres will emit more than Spain's entire grid, if built

I really wish matters were more complicated, but no. Literally every single thing currently ruining our quality of living can be traced back to Epstein-class motherfckers. Bezos. Musk. Trump. Roberts. They fucking *better* build those cataclysm-survival bunkers because I swear to god

every single twitch streamer should not only turn it off, but start and end every single stream telling their audience about it and how to turn it off. and encourage them that do stream to do the same. maybe even take a moment mid-stream to do it. and keep doing it until its gone.

I really hate the trend of "I can't tell my superior something is stupid, without getting fired". And most of the time, the superior wouldn't know the answer to "what does the company do?".

Making this opt-out and burying it under Security and Privacy means most people will never know there’s a choice. The default does the work, while users inherit the job of finding and reversing it.
