Remember this image every time someone tells you that protesters are "hurting their cause." Those people are the red bars. In 40 years, we'll look back at them the same way.

These guys like to pretend that there's some manner of protest that will be acceptable to them, because they don't want to admit that they just oppose the cause. But they were able to get apoplectic about Colin Kaepernicke's motionless protest so... it's not the manner of protest they hate.

I think there are a lot of dipshits who think they support the cause but don't understand that a nice belief + rejection of any means to achieve that belief = not actually supporting the cause Don't know if they're better or worse than the outright liars

Yeah, basically: "The perfect is the enemy of the good". I do think those dipshits are often well-meaning but it leads to, for example, helping a rabidly anti-Palestine president get elected... because you oppose the genocide in Palestine.

Seriously, this kind of poll is useless because the pool of respondents (in 1961!) would certainly be white men. Reality happens at the voting booth, where it matters!

... You do realize the Civil Rights Movement was boots on the ground and actually very important, right? ... and you know that the Civil Rights Act was not passed by popular vote, it was passed by Senators and Congresspeople, right? Like you do know these things?

We liberal boomers fought to give these groups rights, and we protested longer and harder than any young folks today have. Where were yall in the 70s when we protested for women's rights, poc rights and all that?

I was a little kid. My parents were involved in liberal causes. I’m thankful everyday to have had liberal parents. They let me read any books I wanted. They didn’t censor me. Our home was open to everyone. They had friends of different races, nationalities & religions. I was exposed to culture.

This is actually very interesting to come back to when I think of the liberation/assimilation debate that happens in queer movements as well. Great image
