Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

When I say I love Cheesecake Factory, I mean this cat who was found malnourished and wandering through a Bay Area mall parking lot. Cheesecake Factory has since been rescued and nursed back to health. He's now healthy, vaxxed, & sweet, but still needs a loving home www.petfinder.com/cat/cheeseca...

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

One important piece of context that many people might not realize: Shutting down a game studio is expensive. Shutting down a French game studio — thanks to labor laws requiring an extended severance period — is VERY expensive. Xbox doesn't want to take on those costs.

I usually check out as many games as possible in Next Fest, but the tidal wave of AI trash has beaten me Non-AI indie devs please post your games below and I'll check em out instead Also @steampowered.com PLEASE add an option to filter out AI games in searches. It's killing discoverability #gaming

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!

This won’t be reported widely, but Jason Arday has been cleared of plagiarism for a second time. Still nobody has been held accountable for this man’s death.

UCU Edinburgh@ucuedinburgh.bsky.social

A reminder: Jason Arday was innocent. "A fresh investigation by scientific publisher Taylor & Francis has concluded without substantiating plagiarism allegations against Jason Arday, the former Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge."

I was asked to paint this to look like a Victorian tile fireplace base. Just give me $12 worth of cheap craft paint and I can 100% curl myself over a wood box like a drying monkey paw for five hours and make it happen.

Weird request. So, I was scrolling on eBay and my eye caught on an item lot of 27 vintage rings. In particular, I focused on a blurred ring in the background. The ring pictured below. Sometimes, as an author, you need to know the story. I kind of thought the year read 1976, the year I was born.

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

what exactly DOES happen to materials from a major studio that’s closed? where do physical hard drives, documents, etc go? who maintains all this pointless secrecy? if you know or have stories, get in touch: nathan@aftermath.site, nathangrayson.666 (signal), aftermathdotsite@proton.me (proton mail)

The situation with that streamer doing the army streams and insisting that it's apolitical is the perfect illustration of how the average american conceptualizes politics and political speech as, that anything they like is apolitical and anything they disagree with is politics

EA's closure of BioWare is transparently a vile move to shutter the studio that made by far their queerest titles. In the wake of this, I implore you: MAKE MORE QUEER ART. Make it trans. Make it horny. Make it scary. Make it loving. Make it with every inch of yourself. Flood the world with it!

Yup, it’s really happening folks. I don’t have any details yet, but I will likely be involved in some way. www.ghostgalaxy.com/blogs/news/n...

ghostgalaxy.comGhost Galaxy Publishing New Edition of Battlestar Galactica Board GameGhost Galaxy is excited to announce today that it has entered into an agreement with Universal and Fantasy Flight Games to publish a new edition of the classic Battlestar Galactica The Board Game. The original Battlestar Galactica board game, designed by Corey Konieczka, was originally released in 2008 by Fantasy Flight Games to much acclaim. The game was bolstered by three expansions and taught a whole generation of gamers to ask the question: “Are you a Cylon?” Ghost Galaxy has been working on an updated design of the classic game, which will be launched via crowdfunding in early 2027. “I had the pleasure to oversee the publication of this phenomenal board game during its first lease on life”, said Christian T. Petersen CEO of Ghost Galaxy (and former CEO and founder of Fantasy Flight Games). “We’re having a lot of fun returning to the great characters and story of Battlestar Galactica, and we’re working hard to ensure that our new edition will make a great game design even better!” “We’re thrilled to have Ghost Galaxy take on this classic game”, said Bill Altig, SVP of Narrative Games at Fantasy Flight Games. “We can’t wait to see it back in print.” The crowdfunding page for Battlestar Galactica The Board Game will launch in the coming weeks. Be sure to check back for when that goes live to follow for more news.

Casting a net of questionable size here, if you’re an ex-BioWare dev (or know of one who may not see this) working on something cool you’d like featured in a roundup at Kotaku, drop it below. Store page links helpful, and let me know what your role was at BW. Projects big and small welcome! RTs plz!

If a corporation is publicly traded, then their primary "customer" will ALWAYS be the shareholders, not the people who actually buy their products or services. THAT is why the shuttering of BioWare is happening, why Epic is running full tilt into vibe coding everything, why "dynamic pricing" is

becoming more of a thing, why pharmaceutical companies increase drug prices even when their costs haven't increased, why insanely profitable companies lay off thousands of workers, etc.

I've mentioned before I've updated my contracts to make sure everything in the production of my books is done by humans and not "AI"; if you're wondering what such a thing looks like, here's a clause covering that from a recent contract.

Attention Scottish voice actors! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎤 We’re gearing up to cast an upcoming project, which will require an (almost) all Scottish cast! So watch this space, if it’s nae bother.

This is potentially useful, but always remember that the AI disclosure on Steam is 100% voluntary, is just a text box for the devs to put whatever they want in, and is not enforced in any way. I.e., failing to disclose or lying in the disclosure conveys zero consequences from Valve.

Now that Steam Next Fest has started I want to remind everybody to not give games with AI any attention, to help you with this you can download this neat extension that will make it A LOT easier to filter through the slop! github.com/seeeeew/aiwa...
