People really gotta stop thinking about it as “posting,” it doesn’t stop being communication because it’s online. If 10,000 of the most powerful people in a country were all in a room together constantly talking back and forth in full public view, it would be incredibly politically important.

Posting can be praxis but it mostly isn’t.

Influencing the elite public conversation around the issues you care about is a worthy pursuit but if you’re a normal person with <5k followers you can have a much bigger real world political impact by calling your local elected officials and asking them to vote your way on specific legislation.

They’re not seeing your posts, but if there’s something that lots of people are talking about, they’re reading the room and seeing what the consensus feels like. Which your posts contribute to.

And there are many respects where tweeting at them is more effective - they may be more likely to actually see it, it contributes to a sense of consensus, etc. Not always but sometimes, depending on circumstance

You’re specifically quote tweeting a YIMBY who has a lot of experience with the difference between a city elected official possibly seeing a bunch of nasty tweets vs going to a community engagement meeting and getting yelled at IRL by a bunch of NIMBYs.
