People really gotta stop thinking about it as “posting,” it doesn’t stop being communication because it’s online. If 10,000 of the most powerful people in a country were all in a room together constantly talking back and forth in full public view, it would be incredibly politically important.

Influencing the elite public conversation around the issues you care about is a worthy pursuit but if you’re a normal person with <5k followers you can have a much bigger real world political impact by calling your local elected officials and asking them to vote your way on specific legislation.

I mean I think what people need to realize is that calling your local elected and tweeting at them are just variations on the exact same thing

Oh, I don't agree with that *at all*. The vast majority of electeds (and I say this because the *vast* majority are city and town councilmembers) are not seeing your posts, unless maybe you're talking about Nextdoor.
