In 1972, a group of Harlem Renaissance cultural icons gathered at Duke Ellington's house. The afternoon was captured on 16mm film by William Greaves, but the footage remained unedited in a vault for 50 years until David Greaves restored his father's project, releasing the documentary it 2026.

The ultimate irony: the most high-fidelity medium we had back then required a physical key and a prayer to survive the vault. We’ve traded the risk of decay for the risk of a corrupted cloud save.

NYC is not scary. It’s expensive but it’s not scary. Great food, cool stuff to see. My “I hate cities” husband actually said he could understand why people would live there.

Not a fan of crowds/people. I get claustrophobic. Not knowing the people freaks me out badly. As I get older it gets more intense. I am sure your city is lovely. I should have been more clear about my fear. 🙏🏼

Wow! What a find and will be such a treat for many Mayor Mamdani. Amazing find by David Greaves and just wonderful the 16mm film by his father of Duke Ellington in 1972 is being shown. Classic.

so neat! Thanks for posting! I used to work for the sister of Reggie Workman (he played bass for Coltrane). #Jazz #DukeEllington
