For the bus schedules, they have this tendency put out a new Bus Schedule to increase frequency because of overcrowding then 6 months later put out another schedule reducing the frequency to improve service because the buses are bunching and empty.

Then there’s light rail mania. Building light rail where there should be heavy rail. They look at the old trolley maps & abandon ROWs & say this is how we should expand rail. The problem is they were designed by land barons who wanted the trains to sell real estate not as good transportation.

And, yes I did enjoy watching that video about trying to squeeze in 45 bus systems in three days! I wonder if such a feat (every TL bus operator currently on the goCard system within three days) would be feasible within SEQ's far wider network...

Reminds me of Taiwan, where most municipalities run their own bus systems alongside the primary ones. Some are formed due to bus companies discontinuing their routes to the communities and they have to step in. Fortunately in some places they are unified under one brand and many are free to ride!

This is the problem when you give out money to cities as an entitlement and don't require them to follow any customer facing rules to get the money. As long as they show invoices paying a contractor to run a bus and it was open to the public, they get their funds.

"45 bus systems" is an insane number, even for an area the size of Los Angeles County. That's 45 schedules to try to coordinate; 45 bureaucratic fiefdoms to deal with.
