Candidates from *both* parties are calling for the federal and/or state gas taxes to be suspended, which makes sense from an election POV but seems like a TERRIBLE idea from a fiscal/budgetary (and also environmental) POV. Even if you support doing so, when exactly would they be reinstated?

Look how Mamdani is making it sexy. He's out there showing how government and tax dollars serves every day people. The work is already being done. It's probably low hanging fruit to go out and show people a lot of the little things that improve their daily lives.
