"none of us can cancel everything but everyone can cancel something" is the heart of this. Sometimes it feels like folks on here are more interested in yelling at each other over the ways we're all struggling to navigate this system instead of figuring out what parts we can do.

None of us can cancel everything. But all of us can cancel SOMETHING. One eminently practical suggestion: Does your family have more than one Amazon Prime account? You absolutely don't need more than one! Cancel one of those tonight!

I'm also gonna be brutally honest: I spent a few months linking to Amazon wishlists because it was the fastest way to get relief to people, but we ALWAYS OFFERED ALTERNATIVES. Of the people who yelled at me about it? Like 5% took advantage of the alternative when it was pointed out to them. Maybe.

If your entire organizing strategy is being performatively superior to people on the internet but not actully doing anything else? You're not helping. At least go write up a guide to easily canceling Microsoft 360 of something. 😂

Sincerely trying to be helpful to people who might want to cancel a MSFT360 subscription but still need the software: look at Groupon and other online retailers for one-time discount codes. Some places will buy bulk licenses and resell them for $30. I haven't paid a dime since 2021.

(BTW lots of people DID take advantage of the alternatives and we went out of our way to try to find ways to get our stuff away from amazon. But all the awesome people doing that? Were not yelling at me. lol zero overlap)

Haven’t shopped at Target in over a year Deleted the Home Depot app Canceled WaPo and NYT subscriptions haven’t completely ditched Amazon but my purchases are WAY down, like I went the entire first quarter of the year without I’m not sure what NEW thing I can cancel today but I’m working on it!

your local library likely has thousands of eBooks! unless you're the type of reader that needs *this exact book* at *this exact moment*, you can probably avoid nearly all (all??) eBook purchases.

Heh. Not long ago we needed new kitchen lights as ours were burning out, and these are the big long fluorescents, I don't know much about fluorescents. So we took down one of the burnt out lights and off we went to Ace. We hadn't even gone in the door before someone in a uniform said "Aisle 12."
