Presumably 'Calgie' wasn't around in the 50s when you were lucky to get some horsemeat. Victorians had Goose Clubs. Paid 6d a week for about three months to receive a goose and a bottle of spirits. Is this another weird myth like the one about no-one being able to say "Merry Christmas" any more?

I mean, he’s purportedly a fully grown adult. You’re allowed to eat whatever you want whenever you want mate, just like everyone else. These numpties demand untrammelled freedoms but also want to be ordered by NF as to what is an acceptable dinner. Overgrown public school babies.

the article in question here: archive.ph/EaKEy we've always done chicken because... 1. it's a much better, and less dry, meat. 2. you don't have leftovers in March. mind you, after #brexit and because Henry VIII preferred it, this year we will be having: goose, boar’s head and peacock.

Weird. I'm pretty sure that before and during quite a lot of the Tudor period nobody in Britain ate turkey at all, ever. I'd wager that turkey only became the most popular xmas meat in the 20th century. Beef or gammon are more traditional, no?

😀 About 2/3 eat their main Christmas meal at lunchtime. About 2/3 of those eat turkey. Which makes it about 44% eat turkey for Christmas lunch. And I doubt that it has been 50% for at least several years. For those who eat Seitan as their plant-based meat substitute, perhaps the Quern Laws?

Knows nothing of history, myself I'll be having swan as per all that time in history when nobs like me had it, and the rest only had turkey (or meat) in their dreams
