Yo. So my daughter wants blue hair for the summer. What kind of dye should I look into that is safe and can be “removed” before the school year starts in August? Her school doesn’t permit fun hair :(

Blue dye is notoriously difficult to get all the way out. You will have to bleach her hair to get it light enough for blue to take, and then it will stain the hair at least a little. Whatever you do, don't use Splat. Source: used to have blue hair.

Depending on your kid’s hair color and texture, there are other colors that could potentially work better without bleaching. We were able to put a pink streak in our kid’s red hair without bleaching, and it faded very gradually and looked great the whole time

+1 to bleach/dye the _ends_ a bright blue and then cutting the dyed hair off entirely at the end of the summer. Another option is braiding in synthetic monofilament extensions like the ones I have, but those might be too much commitment depending on how much she likes blow dryers and curling irons.

+1 (I used to also have blue hair) also fyi this will keep fading to green which you’ll have to recolor is hair chalk still a thing? I haven’t tried it but it might be worth looking into

As I have blue hair 😅.... Semi-permanent Ion with the sensitive hair developer will be good, but you will have to bleach (and if she has reddish tones you'll have to go white first using bright white lightener) and I recommend the creme oil lightener (argan oil and protein). Call me if you want.
