I've been used to 64 GB of RAM on an Intel iMac and, with the current pricing nuttiness, I'm tempted to save $600 by speccing a Mac Studio with 48 GB. Do we think I'll regret this?

"Last" is relative. It's a 2017 model I bought in early 2019, and it's stuck on Ventura, so it's hard to disentangle iMac performance and Ventura badness.

Then you’d be fine with 48GB. My 2021 Pro is fine with 32 in 2026, and probably will be fine until 2030 unless I decide to do way more iOS development.

fwiw, I do full stack web and iOS development on an M4 Air with 16GB and have never suspected I might need more RAM.
