While I agree with France in general I must remind everyone that France had the same position on artillery ammo. As a result russia got way more artillery ammunition from NK than entire Europe provided to Ukraine. Talks is cheap when it is not your citizens pay for that with their lives.

Ukraine needs weapons now. Not in 2027 or 2030.

I understand the idealistic approach of France, but it is an impractical approach when Ukraine needs the weapons immediately. Macron attempted the same approach with artillery shells earlier in the war, which also proved impractical for Ukraine's situation.

I wholeheartedly agree but let’s not lose sight of the objective and that is to protect Ukraine. If that means buying American weapons in the short term then that’s what needs to be done. Europe cannot do that. But we have to get there quickly so that we can.

There is no American support on the table. After 2 September, Europe and NATO might get to buy American materials, and then donate*. All that this is a business deal, not US support to Ukraine. *Even if it's to buy and replaced already shipped material.
