If you find yourself dooming, it's worth recalling that Trump has neither the legal nor (more importantly) the practical ability to effectively federalize & rig the midterms. But if you find yourself complacent, it's important to note he can cause a whole lot of chaos by illegally trying & failing.

I'd actually say here a variant on what I used to say about election cybersecurity: It is not plausible that a cyberattacker could alter the outcome of a national or even statewide election undetected. It IS plausible they could interfere enough to undermine the public legitimacy of the results.

Who will stop him from his stated goal of federalizing elections and using ICE to patrol polling stations in blue states?

Tell that to the people of Chicago and Minneapolis, who've been at Ground Zero of the administration's attacks on civilians. They don't need to invade every state. Just the blue ones.

Not even that. They could concede those and focus on the purple ones. And not even whole states. Just, say, big cities in MN and PA, for example.

They don't have that many guys.
