Trump regime and many right-wingers do not want any public funds spent on colleges, pretending the school of hard knocks is better. Instead of educating young people, they want them to be the farm laborers, low skilled workers and fodder for their forever wars. There- I said it.

No, it will not lower costs at the colleges. It will mean only the wealthiest will be able to afford college, which will mean lower enrollment and the destruction of the college system - which is the goal of the right-wing.

No, that's stupid economics. Cutting support for students will reduce poor students' access to grad school. Schools' ability to price discriminate w fin aid remains unchanged - tuition any given student pays will stay the same. Because of lower enrollment overall, avg tuition may fall

This looks to me like the Right is simultaneously pushing expensive tech at universities and reducing the universities' funding -- smaller loans, axed research grants, and reduced full-tuition foreign students. The usual Republican thing, that is. They hate universities.

This is basic economics. The more something is subsidized, the more expensive it gets. The real question is why we subsidize private university. We should instead fully fund public universities, which would have the *opposite* effect on private school tuitions as they have to compete.
