I don't understand why Vivek wants the endorsement of a woman who protected her husband and fled the state with him after he raped her child. Is he in favor of child rape?

Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"

SAM PRESTI MUST BE STOPPED

Oklahoma City Thunder best player: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, reigning 2-time MVP and the best midrange scorer since Michael Jordan. he is terrifying. fun player: Aday Mara, who is 7'3" and looks ready to be good immediately. sam presti must be stopped. butt: you know the answer to this. not butt.

Didn't we resolve this discussion in the 70s? I thought forced-birthers like MTG love the term pro-abortion (rather than pro-choice) because it focuses on the pregnancy and ignores the existence and agency of the mother?

“Because someone needing an abortion is bad.” There’s the stigma you really ought to work on. Enjoy your day.

Well, but LLM subscriptions are not how AI companies make money. That investment is going to developing internal AI solutions to lower costs. Thw investment pays off if it sufficiently increases worker productivity. Almost all of those workers are working for, like, Wendy's, not chatGPT

Just watched a youtube vid of Jamelle Bouie saying the Dems' project 2029 needs to be more than just a list of loosely associated policy goals. There needs to be a vision of the future after Trump. I think you need to start by closing your eyes and imagining the perfect America.

I think the Dems should embrace the American Dream+. Not the brutally individualistic American Dream of the past, where you had to overcome all obstacles yourself as a loan cowboy, but a national dream of overflowing bounty that we all contribute to, and benefit from, together.

It's fine to have a thoughtful discussion about the tradeoffs between growing our nation's wealth and dividing up that wealth fairly. But we need to take the second part of the discussion seriously. As many other countries with wealth similar to ours have done.

What we're left with is a country that never really wanted to commit 100% to civil rights. The Democratic Party has always behaved as if the African American vote is a yoke around its neck.

The Dems only supported civil rights under duress, when they were caught with their POTUS being the one in power when technology advanced enough for the USSR to broadcast film of U.S. police brutality to the world.

The old world of Reagan lying about the American Dream is over. The old world of the United States leading the democratic countries of the world in an existential fight against Communism is over.

The American dream should be the Democratic Party's vision of the post-Trump America. An America that capitalizes on its ability to attract the best and brightest from around the world to create economic opportunity.

On the moderate side, you have kitchen table folks interested in maximizing overall economic welfare, with a heavy emphasis on redistributing the gains from economic growth so everyone benefits.

For me that means the utter destruction of the Republican party, and the Democratic party fracturing into a moderate and a progressive wing, and all future policy discussions going through that filter only.

4/ Fernando Vasquez, an 18-year-old citizen, was on break from work when agents chased and handcuffed him, then put him in their truck. After realizing their mistake, the agents left the teen alone in the woods, with no way to get home. Then they threw his ID out of the truck.

well, because our criminal justice system disproportionately targets black people, not allowing prisoners to vote has a racist outcome. If every white person who smoked weed had the same chance of being incarcerated as a black person committing the same crime, well... it would still be a bad idea

I mean, what I don't understand, is the sheer ignorance of the second take. You couldn't be bothered to take thirty seconds to google thee ROI on cosmetology certificates? The ROI on Public/Community College provided cosmetology certificates is exceptional.

Philip Bump@pbump.com

*stokes anger* *pooh-poohs anger^

In fact the costs of public/CC certs are so low that many students don't need to take out loans at all. The problem is for profit cosmetology programs, where you can accumulate $20k worth of debt, forcing you to work successfully for two years to break even. Which often doesn't happen.

When I was working at DOC under W, I walked into an immigration discussion and suggested the optimum strategy is to make it as difficult as possible to get here, to skim off the cream of the crop, and then integrate those who make it as quickly as possible to harness their job creating potential

Dan Ancona@danancona.bsky.social

Massively important story. We’ll see how this goes, but Talarico isn’t within striking range because of some kind of heterodox move to the right. He’s making a strong, clear case for ideas that work better than plainly horrific Republican ones.

what can you say but lol. rofl. lmao.

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

I love this Pavlovian approach to advertising the Republicans have adopted: Ding ding ding! Look it's AOC! We've trained you to be mad every time you see her face! Now associate that brainwashed anger with this other candidate!

Deuteronomy 4:15–16, Moses reminds Israel: "You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb... so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman."

The Bible never says that God has a penis. But in fairness, Ken Paxton, you missed *a lot* of verses in the Bible, you adulterous liar.

I will say that *I* thought Bran had an extremely important role to play, he had a whole fucking subplot!!!, and was not surprised at all by the ending. To me it was disappointing because it was so predictable, not that I thought it was a dumb ending. All endings are dumb.
