Automobile crash safety. incandescent -> LED cassette tapes (okay, step down from vinyl) to CDs to lossless streaming audio women in academia especially in STEM fields (not perfect! but better in my lifetime)

Keeping lights you're not actively using turned off is almost more of a symbolic gesture than a practical habit now. The actual savings is trivial, but I want people to see me as the sort of person who is careful to turn out the lights.

As a southerner, can I talk about how wonderful a light bulb with minimal waste heat is - especially in August.
