I've done many professional mediations as either mediator or advocate. Some times as advocate you need to tell your client that mediation will be a waste of time.

The expectation that a resolution could be made within days is absurdly unrealistic. Talk about setting yourself up for failure. Former Secretarys of State & former diplomats have been discussing the extensive “leg work” required before negotiations even begin.
