Donald Trump has stolen SO MUCH money by treating his illegal tarriffs as his personal income that he can offer a trillion dollar bribe and the consensus response is “as if he’d actually pay lol”. That’s where the constitutional order is right now. Balance of powers. Rule of law. Brooklyn bridge

Repost if you think the Church Street pedestrianization project should be made permanent and year-round. An absolute new gem of a space in the heart of Toronto’s LGBT community.

The man started a war and is trying to negotiate with straw men he made up and he can’t even win with them. Meanwhile the actual war(s) rumble on.

Best quote from CEO of MLSE today in how he will build a winning sports team based on data: “evidence based decisions are never wrong” Depends on the evidence no? Evidence of leadership from today’s #Leafs press conference was sorely lacking. Talk about pulling back the curtain

It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you. If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can. Everyone give this a share after.

Trump blames everyone who isn’t part of his war for the damage it’s causing all over the globe, while the rest of the globe blames those who actually created the mess. And Russia seems to be the only winner.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Aaron is right, and, what's more, the procedural irregularity Douglas details here shows that not only was that the Trump administration's goal here — but that Jones and Duncan helped them along (if it not directly being their goal as well).

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past. It will fuel ICE’s push to transfer people to Texas immediately.

I have not enjoyed watching the right turn 1984 from a cautionary dystopia into a how-to manual but I am enjoying the fuck out of them turning antifa from a straw man projection into a church basement baseline. This shit is evil and most folks aren’t behind that.

I know JD is focused on alienating Europeans and Catholics and he is kicking ass at that BUT WHAT IF they sent him to China with no leash. I mean we could have a hot global conflict before lunch. He’ll survive and write a memoir called Mascara and Mushroom Clouds

So America is at a place where the government is sending whoever it wants to concentration camps wherever it wants with de facto life sentences and that’s not close to biggest crisis Americans are facing from said government. The slippery slope is fucking slippery! That cliche finally seems apt

The American economy is under attack by the American government, the American government also under attack from itself. Self-selected damage from above. What comes next?

Why is CBC interviewing a historian who sees trump/zelenski as akin to Reagan/Gorbachev with both trump and Reagan as firm strong leaders standing up to bad behaviour. Just beyond terrible content. Full of lies and spin and no actual history as it applies to Trump. Thanks CBC news network!

Democratic senator final words as they enter the death chamber: think how much worse things would be if I hadn’t (punched left, upheld normal order, had no spine etc)

Miners in the coal mine

Stop advocating for trans people by referring to us as canaries in the coal mine. The whole point of the canary is that it's an acceptable sacrifice to protect the people who actually matter. We are not a *warning sign*. We are real people. Our lives and rights matter in and of themselves.

Many of us have had no political representation since that godforsaken referendum. We did all we could to kick out the Tories and our tactical voting gave Labour a big win. Ignoring us is bad for Labour and bad for the country. Our votes matter too and it’s beyond time politicians acknowledged that.

Trump pretty clearly believes allies are suckers (Israel and Egypt excepted) soft power is worthless and fear and extortion are all that counts. The US’s image in the world has gone over the cliff and he’s not gonna pull the parachute cord. May you live in interesting times, America
