I feel this with blogging. In case anyone needed to hear this—you can just write and publish on your blog because you want to. No metrics. No clout. This has always been my guiding principle with my blog (Pawlean.com) which is why 357 posts later, I’m still here. Even if NOBODY reads 😁

As someone who grew up online, it does depress me to see how many people genuinely can’t fathom why someone would want to be on social media beyond reasons linked to building clout so you can make money. It’s fun to talk to interesting people from around the world. That’s always been my reason.

Writing is such a valuable practice as well…doing it just for yourself is incredibly worthwhile (and yes I guess this is called journaling and has been around since before the internet but my point stands)

I love the fact that I can go back through some of my old posts and think. But writing about something is such a useful activity, there’s a fair few things that I wouldn’t have discovered weren’t it for writing it down. Stats are vanity - though the rush of being on the orange site is nice ;-)

A good take especially our work/world generally is already obsessed with optimising the hell out of things (usually for more money 🙄). It's nice to be able to do things for the joy of doing it!
