Yesterday I pushed samwho.dev 2.0. - Every interactive/visual post revamped. - New content added to several old posts. - New consistent visual style throughout. - Dark mode(!) - New interactive heroes for all posts that didn't have them. - Updated dog animations.

Their goal is 1M GPUs and let's just use 72 GPU/rack as a round number. That means they have 13,888 active racks and 277 SPARES!!! A GB300 NVL72 rack costs about $5,000,000 which means they have (list price) $1.3B of spare capacity

This really makes me think how much the frontier labs are spending when they rent the entire infrastructure from hyperscalers Datacenters are expensive. Not owning the infrastructure is expensive and risky

Are you telling me that last year with GB200 12% of your GPUs were "interrupting" every day??? The stat says 1000 failures per 8000 GPUs per day. That's 1 in 8. IDK about you, but to me that sounds like a completely broken product

This kinda kills me. They buy racks of 72 GPUs but only use 64 (8 spares) because the jobs work better with powers of 2. An 11% stand by capacity is a lot of money They also have 2% extra racks just waiting around

They upgraded to GB300 NVL72 racks with a bullet point that it has over 1 exoFLOP of FP4 compute. The GB200 rack says it has 1.4 exoFLOP of FP4 compute they just wrote it as "1,440 PFLOPS"

Sooo yeah, Talos Linux does run on a jailbroken PS5. For now I can't bootstrap the Kubernetes part and kubelet is not starting up. I'll get back to it later. This is fun.

Not being able to host a personal mastodon instance from static files was a big reason I abandoned the network I know bsky doesn't have this option either, but the AT protocol appeared much closer to offering static hosting than AP

I know folks get real mad when I say this but in times of widespread security crisis, static sites sure are nice

I do not like Chainguard. You cannot get me to say a single positive thing about them as a company. Leaking a critical vulnerability in violation of an embargo is outrageous behavior even for them and they absolutely know better.

If you make HTTPS requests or have other TLS clients and care about MITM attacks, you need to update today. If you run Go: go get go@1.27.3 If you run Homebrew: brew update brew install ca-certificates If you run Linux, maybe stay off the internet for now.
