Earlier today I wrote about how Ross Douthat's effort to equate Trumpism with leftist politics had him throwing his home state under the bus. Oh, also dug up some quotes from him about how great Connecticut is.

ctinsider.comRoss Douthat sees 'civic collapse' in Connecticut. Do you?The columnist's final New York Times column targets progressive governance in defense of Trump, but Connecticut’s civic and education data complicates his argument.

His great-grandfather was governor of CT - the great poet (friend of Sandburg & Frost) liberal Dem, Wilbert Snow. My elementary school was named after him: he came as a very old man & gave a reading which inspired me to read his autobiography Codline’s Child. Douthat fell very far from that tree.

yep - we had one of the first (& prolly one of the last) “open classrooms” in my 5th grade - one of those late 60s experiments that sound sorta groovy but all I remember is my teacher at roll call seeing my name & saying I don’t speak Polish & I said it’s not Polish & got sent to sit in the corner.

Only Italian names recognized in the 'foreign' category back then, huh? It was the most idyllicly beautiful school grounds to cut through en route to dog-walking in Wadsworth, past that sweeping stone wall leading up to the mansion.

I'd bet the gun death rate is higher in Texas and Florida than it is in Connecticut. Greater percentage of people covered for health care in Connecticut than in Texas and Florida. Republican policies kill more US citizens. That is not good civic duty.
