People really want Trump to be an economic disaster and sorry, it's just not playing out that way. There's no doubt his policies have reduced growth relative to an alternative baseline, but the US economy is in great shape for the near to medium term, even more so given everything he's thrown at it.

People have been telling me this for two years now and I'm sorry y'all are wrong lol

I'll take the other side of that prediction for medium term. You're predicting that macroeconomic data a year from now will indicate an economy in great shape, yes? I expect the negative impacts of the Iran war to be more apparent then, so I predict mediocre at best, not great. I guess we'll see.

that's one-fifth of China's impact on global demand, and flows through Hormuz have risen by much more than the SPR release amounts since they started.

I'm not a petroleum expert but the diesel crack spread has hit a record number. I don't know what's driving that but I think the U.S. having to turn off the backup flow is going to cause some trouble.

Also, the higher price of fertilizer for agriculture hasn't really hit the groceries since we're mostly eating last year's harvest still. I would assume that the higher prices will start kicking in this winter.

Yeah, best estimates from people like @roryjohnston.bsky.social suggest mid-single digit mm bpd are transiting consistently. That + pipeline work arounds mean supply is down significantly versus pre-crisis but much closer to baseline than zero.

I think they're likely getting ~8 MMbpd through Hormuz, that's the highest sustained 7dma level I've seen sustained over the past month. But some of that is likely re-displaced Saudi Red Sea barrels given Houthi blockade, which has depressed loadings and pushed the rest north to Med or back to Gulf

Also it doesn't take much for a shortfall to begin to develop when inventories are tight. There's no reason to believe Ukraine is going to let Russian production recover any time soon.
