it's also funny that many posters in my replies lately have adopted the same framework as Trump (higher rates = bad, regardless of specific cause)
*TRUMP REITERATES THAT US SHOULD PAY LOWEST INTEREST RATE: TIME
*TRUMP BEMOANS THAT 'GOOD NUMBERS' LEAD TO HIGHER RATES: TIME
I am not convinced its all due to growth. Labor mkt was better in 22/23/24 (Jobs per unemployed American) NGDP was stronger in 22 & real GDP growth was better in 23/24
Trump believes that high rates are bad because for his entire life he's been a borrower - probably because he considers it 'smart' to take other people's money.
It is always about him personally.
I mean, I'm not personally thrilled because I'm trying to buy a house and I don't see that happening for a while now, but also I've done enough reading to know I'd lose that house if rates were kept artificially low, so...
Seriously though, expect to see a lot of political pressure to artificially lower rates in the next few years. A lot of older people have "Sell my house at an inflated price" as their entire retirement plan, and they're already in denial over what 7% means.
