he mentions how, even if AI can accomplish something (which he also mentions it doesn’t get it), it halts any progress of the craft in the future source: youtu.be/jiTS9LclmeM?...
Mental health treatment, mental health treatment drugs, and a reduction of mental health stigma. It’s come a long way and there’s a lot of improvement that can still be made.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
Trump may be undoing Nixon’s conversion of FDR’s White House swimming pool into the press briefing room, trivia I only know about from reading Doonesbury anthologies as a kid www.nytimes.com/1969/10/21/a...
President Trump has pushed to move briefings out of the White House press room. Aides say he wants an indoor swimming pool instead. nyti.ms/4eoW3AV

And media - who loves to ride the drama of a pollercoaster - needs to take a hard look at what's legitimate and what's not. If this teaches us anything - DON'T GET COMPLACENT AND DON'T TRUST THE POLLS. LOCK IN. SIGN UP FOR A CANVASSING SHIFT. LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

Saw “Digger” this weekend. It made some weird choices that would make more sense on a second viewing. It’s kind of like The Bride how it was interesting for trying, whether or not it succeeded. I think some of the hate is for the size of the bet and not paying out as a 100% win. Still worth the time

NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.
Wondering if the era where every value Republicans have ever held is subservient to winning & power will ever draw to a close
recalling when Trump's *former Chief of Staff* denounced him partially on the grounds that Trump repeatedly disrespected dead American troops and the New York Times buried it on page A16 bsky.app/profile/dmnd...

Y’know, I was talking with my wife about Nolan’s Odyssey just today. About the theme of changing the rules (Zeus’s law & ignoring it) destroying the whole world. And how continuing to play by the old rules (like Penelope, hosting suitors) just put you at a disadvantage while the world was crumbling.
tbh, anybody who wants to tell me that open source isn't on the ropes is going to have to answer why there are millions of dollars for Dotfile DHH but github sponsors mostly emits cobwebs and a faint wheeze for people who are making stuff we all use every day at work

A multi-generational project to recover from this admin, if we choose to do it at all.
For reference: When I had my background check it was held up because I had a speeding ticket from when I went home sophomore year in college that I forgot to put on my SF-86. I got grilled about why I didn’t disclose it (they eventually believed it was mistake). The FBI as we knew it is gone.

Also unexpectedly found @buffalotomband.bsky.social The band and the songs still sound great
I can not make sense of the line of thinking that goes “get me a bunch of books that didn’t hold people’s interest enough to be worth more than their recycled pulp value & use them to help us train the robots”
The article explicitly says they aren't naming any of the books. And then the secondhand book seller goes on to talk about "sentimental value." Which is how you know that these are the unwanted books that clog the backrooms of any secondhand bookshop.
