Forgive my ignorance but I don’t understand this image. Is this Bluesky on the desktop, Twitter with a custom domain or something else?

Ah, you work on Bluesky. Sorry, I should have checked your bio earlier. Look forward to the web app!

Looking good! I mean this in the best way possible so hopefully it isn’t taken badly, but what is the thinking/benefit of choosing a nearly identical design to Twitter?

Seems like this is a chance to reimagine what the site could be/look like. I don’t think it’s a bad thing just curious why that decision was made.

Two reasons, and believe me that thought runs through my head constantly: 1, it helps me move quickly and avoid misadventures that aren’t attached to anything 2, ironically this design is really the simplest way to convert a mobile app to desktop

I call these “rabbit holes” and it’s a constant battle to not fall down them every time I’m working on a project. It takes a lot of willpower to get the job done as described and save the fun for later.

Exactly what I assumed, why fix something that isn’t broken. As minimal as the differences are right now, I really like the fact that it’s not as cluttered as twitter has become.

I would argue that Twitter, despite whatever it's become today, set a standard for the way other communication platforms work. Because of that, nobody required a BSKY tutorial. We just simply started using it. That's powerful. Why reinvent the wheel?

Okay solid — make sure you’re on v1.6 of the app. Go to settings, press “Change handle” then “I have my own domain name.” You’ll set the give value on the _atproto subdomain of your target domain
