Joyless scolds aren’t new. They dont have a point. They will always show up when somebody is having fun so they can take that away. It’s a weird antisocial behavior and we shouldn’t give them the w

People who aren’t using AI to code at this point are delusional or lying, trying to ride a horse down the highway and backing up the traffic instead of asking “what can we do to make cars safer and electric.” They have no ethical high ground

people who use genAi are lazy & suck at whatever they are using it for, and are too ignorant to see how bad it is. You ride on the coattails of all the people that actually put in the effort. & rich to talk about ethics while pushing a tech with a body count ten times higher then lawn darts.

oh, do you think claude will ever get around to fixing the problem of hitting the back button not always sending you to where you were, but to a skeet you were reading 3 days ago? or how about checking notifs & going back & the feed jumping to the top? but i guess fast code is better then good code

should tell you something about the difficulty of shipping software that we’re vigorously adopting every tool we can to make that a reality, and that we still haven’t reached that goal yet

sometimes the solution is being Meta in an environment with zero antitrust enforcement and applying your endless resources to destroy your competitors

the meta isn't just doing what you think everyone else is doing. its standing out from the crowd. if as you say everyone is using genAi to code, then not doing so makes you an outlier to pay attention to. esp as rejection of that tech grows.

You can't go around tsktsking other programmers for not using genAi, touting how much better, faster, more efficient it is so you MUST use it, then expect to go "we're just po wittle coders who need mo time" and get sympathy.

if you mean genAi. that'll never happen. nor should it. genAi users SHOULD be named & shamed, if for nothing else then their own good, so they can get treatment before the collapse happens so that have a leg up. if you mean actual Ai tools, well thats just a matter of not conflating the two.

that's the delusion I was talking about. There are enough open weight models, and enough direct utility, that this is not going away
