I am in the minority... ... of people who dislike FM music. OPL, MPU, Roland, Sega Genesis - all of it. This is likely because my first experiences with it were bad MIDI. To this day, most FM music sounds cheap and textureless to me.

It's like there's this thing where people think FM needs to sound like "FM". It is way more powerful than that. Similar to how folks making SID music abuse the shit out of duty cycle, so stuff sounds like a bunch of meowing cats. The SID has way more timbre capability than just duty cycle. USE IT.
