The talk I gave at #teardown2026, Creating Up to Date Hardware for Out of Date Tech is now up on the Crowd Supply YouTube channel! Join me as I talk about what makes old tech cool, and why open source hardware makes it even cooler. youtu.be/S2pVAZUPD6o

The amazing @polpo.org came across a Packard Bell Legend 610 with a nasty power supply and thought of me. I thought that was a compliment, but on second thought, I'm not so sure! In any case, let's open it up and see if we can get signs of life. Friday afternoon 2:30 EDT. youtube.com/live/yqqyvRE...

Turns out you can get laser cut sheet metal ~10x cheaper by pretending it's a solder paste stencil and ordering from @jlcpcb.bsky.social. Suck it, SendCutSend!

The #FujiNet WiFi Adapter Cartridge is coming to the #NES Bring-up threads: AtariAge: forums.atariage.com/topic/393355... NESDEV: forums.nesdev.org/viewtopic.ph... Intro video:
I’m in this video in a couple spots! Clint caught me dropping off some Macs and a tape drive enclosure on the free pile, and later he stops by my table where my 486 with PicoIDE and PicoGUS is playing the intro to Return to Zork VERY LOUDLY
New LGR travel vlog! youtu.be/w-XF5j6x0hs The 2026 Vintage Computer Festival Midwest experience as it was for my brother Luke and I during that weekend in September. I drove directly to the show this time, so no Chicago city stuff unfortunately. But I ended up seeing a lot more of the show itself!

I'll be on this stream tonight!
My good pal @ronscompvids.bsky.social is hosting a fun chat TONIGHT about the recent VCF Midwest show. Join me, Ron, and a bunch of awesome folks as we chat about what we saw, what we took home, and more! This stream will also be simulcast to my channel, so tune in! 🍿 youtube.com/live/vpwQg26...
Another VCF Midwest #vcfmw highlight: taking a van load of stuff to put on the free pile on behalf of @jeremysretrobar.bsky.social. Almost everything I put on the pile was picked up within seconds of me putting it down. There’s two more layers of stuff beyond what you can see in this photo
One of my favorite moments from #vcfmw this year was when @thegirlg33k.com let me test picoide out on her PC-9821 and do some IDE bus captures. After some shenanigans with drive geometry it booted right up off the picoide! And CD works too! Thanks again for letting me crash your table 😅

Coming to VCF Midwest? If you're like me, it's hard trying to remember where everything is, especially with VCF taking up the ENTIRE expo hall this year. So I made this tool last night: geerlingguy.github.io/vcfmw21-map/ Now it's a lot easier to find exhibitors! #vcfmw

I just learned that the pinball place near-ish me (www.lyonsclassicpinball.com) has a weekly pinball machine repair class every Monday night. I won't be able to go for a few weeks but that sounds super fun

The Crimson Diamond BIG BOX is being planned! 🤩 If you were going to buy one, would you prefer: a) CD-ROM with printed surface b) usb stick made of maple wood with a laser-engraved logo?
(3/5) The Crimson Diamond BIG BOX is in the works! It would include the above game manual and cost approx $35-45 USD (before taxes & shipping). It should be available around the end of the year! If you are considering buying it, would you prefer a) CDROM or b) USB stick, maple wood, engraved logo?

The mad lad has gone and done it: Hakko nail clippers. cc @tubetime.bsky.social
This is between fingernail clipper and toenail clipper length so the handles I have are too short or too long, and the action doesn't feel as great but success I guess? I unfortunately just trimmed my nails a few days ago so we won't know for sure until I get back from a trip.

Well, this has been a journey. I've been trying to crack reliable tape loading since lockdown and by jove, I've actually done it! 🥳 I have four built, one's mine and the rest are going out to some people who are a force for good in the retro community. They deserve a nice toy to 'test'. ☺️

Very tempted to Frankenstein together my very own set of Hakko nail clippers with this part
and their web shop confirms it: the Hakko FT-630 contains a fingernail clipper, laser marked "HAKKO" and missing the metal pin and lever. oh yeah, it's also $13.47. (all prices must end with the number 7, apparently)
saw @engineersneedart.com fave this post which makes me think... this would be the perfect setup for playing Glider in!
