Drop-off charges at UK airports to be reviewed after sharp rise. Rip-off charges crafted in company boardrooms, exec pay linked to profits. Public transport to airports isn't always good Review is one thing, ending predatory practices is something else.

There should be a 10 minute free period for dropping off/picking up so only those people who abuse the system get hit with parking charges. It works in other airports around the world, we should be able to make it work in the UK.

I was including a bit of leeway for time to find a space to stop and a queue at the exit barriers. Also, if dropping off a family with small kids, it takes a bit longer to get them out of the car seats and safely into pushchairs.

10 mins is very tight when flights delayed, baggage slow, queues at immigration etc. Especially if collector has to drive 50 miles to airport on congested roads. Need off site parking nearby & sested waiting area for arrivals.

Granted it's more appropriate for dropping off passengers. Off site parking for free if flights are delayed would be helpful. At Heathrow the long stay has a 2 hour free period which could be used to much the same effect.

Shouldn't be reviewed they should be made illegal! All airports should allow for free drop off & pick up. EMA has poor public transport & railway stn miles away, & growth plans making things worse. Drop off £8 for 10 minutes - max stay 30 mins would cost a whopping £28! With threat underlined!

Yeah ... and talk about data protection, MAG were hacked and my data stolen from using Stansted for parking, since which I keep receiving emails about not paying my tv licence pay using this link ... hah. They should be fined for allowing the hack and NOT protecting my data!

Total rip off of the public! Both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports have no rail links and the public transport links eg bus and tram links are inadequate

On my way to dropping somebody off at Stansted I literally saw a holiday-maker walking along an A road with their luggage! When this predatory price gouging greed finally kills someone, they still won’t fucking stop

I get the coach to Heathrow (it goes to all the terminals) and the train to Gatwick. If I go from my local airport the bus goes from outside my flat to outside the entrance to the airport.

For Heathrow and Gatwick, there are good public transport options. Other airports are more variable. Last time I was flying from Manchester, the 10am flight on a Sunday was too early for me to get there by train, which would be my usual choice. Humberside is my nearest, but options are very limited!

Ending predatory practices calls for a government that is not drowning in "donations" from businesses that want favours from the government. If I stop in my car on a public highway, to drop a passenger off, why should the business at that kerbside charge me?

We have to drop my disabled father off at Gatwick or Heathrow quite regularly. He has a blue badge and needs a wheelchair from the vehicle to the terminal and vise versa on return. It costs at least £14 and once after a delay just under £35 the system is rigid to discriminate against the disabled.

Absolutely disgraceful. Sums up capitalist, rip-off UK perfectly. My local airport in Munich has a 5 minute grace period for dropping off and picking up; after that, you start to pay.

Airports are generally a rip off. Although, to be fair I know at Heathrow and Luton you can drop off at the long stay car park for free, with free shuttle bus to the terminal, but this takes a lot longer and not suitable for disabled.

They’re doing all this under regulatory systems around private parking. Except, dropping off isn’t parking and doesn’t even come under the same commercial model (keeping spaces free for genuine customers). The whole scam needs scrapping entirely.

This isn't like hospital parking. People aren't going to the airport because they absolutely have to, except in a very small number of cases. Just get a taxi. I am very sick of the entitlement of car owners.

We paid for parking at Gatwick, the lanes were partially closed due to several police vans with dogs , it wasn’t clear , we ended up going through the drop off and had to pay to get back round to the parking Daylight fucking robbery

Now whenever news like this pops up I now always thing that politicians are on the mooch. As in, we want a cut, or we will regulate you. So, expect bungs to be inbound and for this to just disappear under that latest coat of white paint.

This is endemic in all businesses at the moment. We need to move towards not-for-profit. It's a big change, and it will take a long time, but we need to turn the tide. Profit is not essential if budgeting is sound.

Any opportunity to squeeze money out to people. Scandi countries are frowned upon for their high taxes but are likely better off when you add everything up.

Do you really want your hospital number and appointment times being known by whoever has the contract to manage the carpark tho? The more entities that have access to your PID, the less secure it is. Hospitals HAVE to keep that data safe, and not all hospitals manage their own carparks.

Who exactly will fund and pay for the provision and management of all of that though? Would we rather the NHS have funds for health care or should it divert funds for free parking for all? Does the NHS have enough land for parking? Should it acquire more land to satisfy the demand for free parking?
