Good health care is indeed for the rich. At least your daughter can get a root canal Scott. Many of us? We just have the tooth pulled, or wait until it rots and falls out. At the very least we need a public option. The easiest way is to let people buy into Medicare, or Medicaid.

Terminology is important if you want to promote this. "Nationalized" is better than "Socialized" but "Universal" is even better. It's what Sen Saunders has been calling for and what all other MODERN western countries offer. But the gopers will forever bat it down, with their voters, to own the Libs.

US healthcare is no longer for the people since around 1980. From 1980 to today capital costs have increased insanely, making all insurance insanely expensive. Controls were added such as Medicare and HMO act, but pricing increased for insurers who passed it to us. Read Elizabeth Rosenthal.

Yes. And even from a market viewpoint it makes sense. How much stagnation takes place bc people can’t/won’t leave jobs or start businesses bc of lack of health care safety net? So-called conservatives can get on board with this.

$1.6 trillion a year in Medicare& Medicaid expense is shackling the nation. There is no room left, we r broke! If the dems are serious they will have to start refusing big pharma money specifically, so that money currently tied to healthcare can be unleashed for other investments, housing, education

Ted Kennedy was right back in the 1970s. Bill Bradley in the 1990s. Howard Dean was right in the early 2000's. Heck, in the late 1980s George Bush Sr. favored a public option of allowing people to buy into Medicaid.

Lost productivity from ill employees, extracting real $ from the economy to fund middleman services that contribute nothing to healthcare, incr bankruptcies due to dripped coverage to pay with a lifetime of work, savings, equity & investments - happy to be Canadian today. Social medicine!

1000 times yes please. Care you can't afford or have to ration, worries about returning to rescissions and caps, profit over providing wellness/sound care, politics determining care...Americans are over every part of it. So tired of the decades of lies told to prop up this failing us system.

Successful capitalism creates customers for itself. 20 years ago nobody had a phone in their pocket. Nobody thought they needed a phone in their pocket. Can't love without one today. Customers in our capitalist healthcare system are sick people, and our system does a great job at creating them.
