🟢 Durant, OK warehouse has sold… to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma! ICE previously sought to buy the space to create a mega detention center capable of holding 8,500 people. This is the 13th warehouse they have been denied.

This move denies ICE a second Okla. concentration camp and preëmpts an annual operating cost of nearly $1.5 billion. It also keeps roughly $100,000 in annual property tax revenue in the community — plus any opportunities stemming from the Choctaw Nation's use of the property.

I'm not so sure. There has been a marked slowdown in the warehouse initiative since Noem's departure and the Maryland TRO. I'm not saying that future sales are off the table, but I think the headwinds are finally deterring DHS from pursuing this like they were two months ago.

The intersection of indigenous sovereignty and immigration policy gets so complex — there's a whole untold history of how tribal nations navigate federal overreach that deserves a proper deep-dive.

They should consider using the plot for some form of worker's cooperative for their nation. Most operations that utilize hand-made labor to build high quality products that are each unique fit the light industrial zoning for warehouses perfectly.
