Florida has been gerrymandered for years. They even violated the state constitution to do it. After the census the state picked up a state or two and the state legislature deferred to the governor to change the boundaries which was in direct violation of the state constitution and nothing was done

We must play on the field as it is today. The only way to get Congress to pass legis making gerrymandering illegal is to make it no longer an advantage. Gerrymander all blue states bluer. No more “fair districts”. NY needs to redistrict bluer also.

NW IL here. Illinois has had the snot gerrymandered out of it by our Democrats. I don't think another seat is possible. When we lost a seat in the last census, our politicians made sure it was Republican (it was Kinziger's).

Always thought fighting the gerrymanders was a waste of resources. We gerrymander the blue States which are huge and we win. Why play a losing hand repeatedly? Ev blue State that can pass this should do it now since SCOTUS allows it in the red States!

For those who don’t understand what I said, Texas legislators have to have enough people to form a quorum. If democrats stay away their gerrymandering legislation cannot be passed.

The idealist in me hates this idea. In a perfect world, gerrymandering would have been abolished many years ago. Pragmatically, you're correct. Anything that forces Republicans to think about fairness, or leaves them fearing an even playing field, is something to aim for.

When I saw that Texas was going to start gerrymandering (again) I said that we absolutely need to do the same thing! It’s too critical not to address this head on!

It is good only in the sense that it must be made clear that there has to be a level playing field and currently repubs have abandoned that principle (maybe not all repubs but enough to impact election), no challenge brought against California can argue that it's unfair given Texas etc actions.
