Post

Some channels call them videocasts which I think suits them, a long form mostly non edited and mostly audio based video.

This is misunderstanding of most video podcasts. Most are audio podcasts that they decided to include video on platforms that support it, like YouTube. Examples are Last Podcast on the Left, My Favorite Murder, Bloody Disgusting Podcast, and and A Hot Dog is a Sandwich. All are still podcasts.

Oh right. Exactly so. Some if the most popular suffer by showing the hosts.

The only video series I watch are things I started “watching” as podcasts. And I don’t have a word for things I might consume in either format. “Podcast” feels wrong, but “video series” is too long, vidcast feels dumb, and vlog feels like I’ve just woken up from 2008.

Podcast I am fairly sure comes from them starting as audio anyone could make and then listen to on an iPod. In addition to this video rule, I also live by “no, you cannot call them a pod.”
