I've never talked about this topic because people are so hostile everywhere, but anyway, I want to share my opinion even though it's very likely that no one will read this, not even Toby. To be honest, I'd like to see translations for both games, and I'll explain why does this matter.

A message for my fans in Latin America. (plain text is in the image alt-text if you need it for translation.)

I disagree with Toby's decision not to translate it because it doesn't fit his vision, and I understand that Toby is a perfectionist when it comes to his work, but that doesn't justify the lack of a translation for his games

When I was 15, I found out about Undertale, and I wanted to play it, but I didn't feel like buying it because it was only available in English, and I didn't understand a single word of English back then (not even today, I'm using a translator to write these posts).

Because of this, I decided to look for a hacked version with a Spanish translation so I could enjoy it. And take note of what I just said: a hacked version, “not translated by Toby.” The game wasn’t translated by him, but I fully understood the message he wanted to convey with Undertale.

That's clear proof that both games don't necessarily have to be translated by Toby to "fit his vision." Translating a game means breaking down the language barrier and allowing more people to enjoy the content you want to share; it doesn't undermine the artistic vision at all.

In fact, Toby wouldn't have been able to enjoy the Mother series either if it hadn't been translated into English. The only game in the series that was never officially translated was Mother 3, and I'm sure Toby played a hacked version of it as well to understand it.

Did it stray from the original language’s vision? No, I’m quite sure he understood it. Even today, I still need to play Deltarune more than once to understand it because, as I said, I don't speak English (which is the reason why I haven't played the latest chapters)

What I'm getting at is that it doesn't matter whether Toby is the one translating the game or not; the artistic vision Toby wants to convey will still be there, regardless of the language. Translating is about sharing your vision with other people and other cultures, not the other way around.
