A message for my fans in Latin America. (plain text is in the image alt-text if you need it for translation.)

Toby, I’m really sorry that everything is so difficult, and I understand that this is all just a misunderstanding. I know you want to preserve the tone and narrative intent across all languages so everyone can experience it the way it’s meant to be.

However, I’ve seen that with the release of new chapters, many people end up using poor, out-of-context AI translations from day one because they don’t understand English or Japanese.

This continues until the game is translated by the fandom in their country, which can take a couple of months or even longer. In the meantime, they’re exposed to spoilers everywhere without fully understanding the context, which really hurts first impressions and the overall experience.

If there were a viable way to translate the DELTARUNE chapters—even starting from Chapter 6 onward—most of the fandom would be able to experience the project as intended at the same time as everyone else.

Genuine question: if you can closely work with a Japanese localizer to preserve your vision as much as possible, why not doing the same with localizers who speak other languages? They could be very much fans of the game who understand and respect your vision. That’s what localization is for.

Who said he needed himself to translate the text? Major blunder here, this allowed for a bunch of news profiles to "reinterpret" his message for those who couldn't read, because you know, they don't fucking speak the damn language.

Learn as we have to learn to speak with him. Sufferer as we had when we had to play games that were in other languages because others didn’t care much about that either. Or should i say all that on portuguese because i do not speak english very well?

Deltatown tomorrow no deltaurn today no I don't believe it's not fashionable bytt it's just a joke bump ylka mouse hole yyshka #ДельтарунЗавтра #DeltaruneTomorrow

Didn't you learn japanese because you played the english translation of Mother and wanted to see the original text? Why not give others that chance? I get wanting to preserve your vision, but you could definitely preserve it by working with a good translation team and giving them proper guidelines

Oye Toby pero de lo primerito que quisiste hacer cuando salió Undertale era traducirlo al japonés incluso antes de saber el idioma y cuando se hizo la traducción ese mismo equipo dijo que apenas sabias 👀👀👀

I think it’s a fair point about artistic vision, but I hope you can find a way to translate it in the future, fans have been supporting these works for years, and it would be a shame not to give them that accessibility, think of how many great works would have been lost if translations didn’t exist

Hey so y'all need to stop bullying Toby just because he doesn't know Spanish and won't translate the game for you. Y'all aren't entitled to anything and harassing someone to stop the development of Deltarune just to translate is selfish as hell.

Toby, you don't need to justify yourself to idiots who don't understand that learning a language is hard. Ignore it. Leave Twitter for a while and laugh at those who actually decided to take it out on you.

I'm from Argentina. I was a fan of Undertale from 2016 to 2022, and then I became a fan again because of Undertale Yellow in 2024. I understand your fear, but I always remember an old man who once said...

Callate gringo conche tu mare que tu no sabi la diferencia entre amar y querer y me queres decir cualquier mierda pa vo facil decirlo si a vo te toca todo oe reconche de tu madre puto puto puto

Primero; responde con argumentos, no con insultos. Insultarme todo lo que quieras no te va a dar la razón. Segundo, no, no soy gringo, soy de México. No estoy "consentido" porque el juego salió en mi idioma. Yo aprendí inglés conforme jugaba Undertale.

absolutely 100% understand writing a lot of dialogue in very specific styles and then not wanting it localized unless you can be personally confident that that's preserved somehow

I'm sorry toby but your take on translation is either ignorant, arrogant, or even both. It seems to me you have no idea how localization works, professional translators are professionals for a reason. Their job is to ensure the translation matches the original author's vision.

Acting like tobys greedy for wanting to supervise how his official translations are being made when hes knee deep in the process of making a game that literally everyone INCLUDING YOU have been waiting for is crazy just hating to hate

Which is something they can't always do if they don't have direct contact with that author while making the translation, and if he actively supervising them through the process, it would take longer to get anything done

so translators are 100% correct all the time lol pls educate yourself with recent issues regarding translations buddy your too naive to be on the internet if you think professionals are not without fault. And also nice job insulting him that’s totally gonna get you translations faster lol

Toby wont give the job of translation to a random team. He is looking for a team that is populer like 8-4 and can show his vision in the translations. Since Toby can not directly be involved in these translations, it is really difficult for him to show his vision like he did with JP Translation.

Thanks so so much!!!! Im really hopeful for fair shipping prices, ive always wanted to buy UTDR merch but it gets to a point where a 15 dollar purchase would end up being 600+ in my currency. Thanks for actually speaking up!!

Tbh, I can 100% understand why this is upsetting. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and yeah it’s frustrating the game is only available in 2 languages. I think at LEAST Undertale could potentially have more translations, as it’s been out for a decade. It would definitely take a long time though.

I understand he wants to release the best translation he possibly can, and I think that is admirable. There have been countless bad translations in media, and we know how long this process can take. But yeah, it sucks that there’s only 2 languages available. I really hope they figure something out.

Toby Fox, even though I love your games and respect you, I'd like to remind you that language localizations are done by professionals, and believe me, their job is to ensure the game doesn't lose its essence through translation.

oh yeah fan teams that won't for whatever reason randomly call you a f*g or imply one of the characters is a pedo, or a rapist. this is for a yugioh game btw. this, this is what happens when someone translates something out of spite

I definitely believe professionals can ensure that the game doesn't lose its essence to a professional, objective standard The thing about art is that it is subjective and personal, which is why Toby wants to closely monitor professional translations

This plain isn't true. As someone with a master's degree in localisation, here's the thing: a localisation without loss does not exist. We have to pick and choose what stays and what we have to put aside, and sometimes the language differences force our hands.

I know this has good heart behind it... but Toby Fox is an Esoteric man. When he says he wants it to fit his own vision, he probably means that he has some secrets that, with the upmost secrecy, cannot get out. And that it has to be EXACTLY to his own vision or it wont make sense in Deltarune's lore

it doesn't always work out. Look at Hollow Knight Silksong. The chinese translation was so bad they had to hire a new translator to redo it. Other languages for Silksong also had differences that Team Cherry patched later, for example german.

It's funny how much trust he doesn't have in localization teams, he has no idea they get supervised to Not Fuck Up. I assume him looking at news of gringo localizators ruining animes has made him think the entire world is like this, sad

As a multilingual, anecdotally, localization is usually barely better than just direct translation the majority of the time. There's a reason so many works that aren't dry, technical documents, are touted as "so much better" in their original language. Don't blame an artist at all for this stance.

i don't think you understand that toby fox isn't a perfectionist who wants to make deltarune as a product to sell, he is an artist who wants to make deltarune as an art piece best fit to his vision, and if a part of the game escapes what he can see it's like not part of him anymore

in fairness there's a lot of examples of bad JP->ES translations that completely dropped puns and jokes when that was the essence of the game, ie Phoenix Wright (until about 6 months ago)

yep also: TADC episode 8's song! idk how many but atleast a few languages drop the IHNMaIMS reference in everything but 'literal meaning', ik the polish translation does despite the fact they could've easily fit in the book's polish title in there (ik cuz i retranslated the song myself..)

they get supervised to Not Fuck Up... by the person who made the media. toby literally says in the tweet that he would be interested in getting other translations done, but he wants to be involved in the process and hasn't found a good way to accomplish that

This is a lie. Localizers have the worst job reputation in the world right now. They ensure messages are lost for the sake of social agendas and refuse direct translations. They even brag about it here on bluesky. They are rotted with team sports mentality and warp messages into their own.

That doesn't mean the localization, translation will be 100% accurate to the creator's intent. He supports fan translation because there's people who struggle to understand Japanese and English but because he couldn't bring himself to learn another language for the sake of translation he has to do--

You can do a alert saying: "this translation is not official" in Undertale. "Please play it with Japanese or English" This is for Undertale. For deltarune just wait until game release

About the translations, I personally think that, while yes, it'd be great to have them, sadly in case of DT translations can be prone to miss some details that could be relevant, so better think about those when DT gets finished. And about the fury for all of this… some people are going WAY too far.

Some are even taking Toby Fox's backslash to quote things he didn't even say, making the situation worse. Idk what's going on with y'all treating Toby like Hitler or sm shit because of the lack of translations. Saying this as an Argentinian myself.

And about the prices for the content, Fangamer must be really careful when adding that in. I saw before companies like Xbox doing so and receiving backlash from people who were using VPNs at the same time to get their content almost for free.

I think that Fangamer could apply discounts after someone uses a location from places where the products wouldn't be accessible. Since shipping is usually what takes most of the money, I don't think people would pay for shipping twice just because the content itself was like 5 dollars cheaper.

Look, i agree that latin americans are overreacting a hella lot, but i don't appreciate either that americans look down upon us like that. Life's hard as is already for us over here, we don't need americans to be so condescendent about our existence either, treating us like some dumb babies

On the other hand I don’t think people going for the worst possible interpretation for Toby’s words is fair … like I’ve seen people compare him to JK Rowling, call him a zionist like … seriously Like a reasonable conversation about this can and should happen … but every needs to calm down first

im really glad that, unlike some people, he acknowledged the criticisms without disregarding them just because some people crossed the line on twitter

people pissed off at toby for the lack of tours on latam countries (and from others places too, but mostly latam) from the undertale concert and stuff like the lack of official translation for the games and the high pricing of fangamer merch

THIS, EXACTLY THIS I swear people think that in order to like someone or his work you have to NEVER, EVER, criticize them, people go as far as saying the latin-american fandom is "selfish" or "dumb" smh White people explainin' why Latin-american problems don't matter I guess, fork found on kitchen

Hey I’m back I’m not toby fox, nor is my name toby but I was grounded and now I’m ungrounded so Also crazy I got grounded for two weeks and toby fox still hasn’t posted if u wanna know why I got grounded basically I explored an abandoned house and got caught and almost got arrested

a shitty mistranslated product WON'T convey the point at all, just straight up admitting you didn't understand the point of this line 🥀

Él mismo dice que está feliz de que haya traducciones hechas por fans, así que no tiene problema con la existencia de traducciones malas o que no fueron supervisadas por él para asegurar que cumplen con su visión. Además, la original sigue ahí y seguirá ahí, sólo queremos que sea más accesible.

yes he celebrates fan translations, but i don't think you realise how much people would kick off over mistranslations if toby fox signed off on them. it's an intensive process to get a good localisation even without tobys level of perfectionism, it's just not as simple as saying just hire someone

Que opinião bosta sobre a falta de tradução de seu jogo, heim? Inclusive mandando esse texto em bom português para que esteja de acordo com a minha visão artística.

Choosing to be ignorant about one of the main pillars of your fanbase is shameful. Americans are comfortable in their position of having to make everyone else adapt to them, even though the industry standard is to provide an experience that welcomes the general public, which, to everyone's surprise

isn't just English speakers. What I see bothering the Hispanic community the most is the fact that Toby Fox constantly looks for excuses to avoid translating his games into languages other than English or Japanese. Undertale has gone through countless ports, whether for Xbox, PlayStation,

Nintendo Switch, or even the PS Vita. And are we supposed to believe that he didn't take a moment to translate any of those versions? It's clear he supervised and directed them, given how meticulous and detailed he is in describing his experience translating the game into Japanese.

If the issue is the pronouns and gender ambiguity of the protagonists in both games, any interpreter who speaks both Spanish and English could adapt the dialogue into Spanish under Toby's supervision, while maintaining that ambiguity. And if the problem lies with the wordplay, jokes, or monologues

It's insane how high guys like you put expectations on a small indie developer when it would've been nicer if all this energy had been poured against a AAA studio instead. Are you seriously accusing him of being a racist over something that's not even a moral decision?

It must have been incredibly difficult for a "small indie developer" to organize a port for every console on the market, open an official merchandise store, and actively promote an orchestra to play the songs from their game.

LOL pillar what have yall done for deltarune/undertale? Do you make fan comics, games, art, music? Let me tell you something you don’t matter that much to make the chapters go from 1 year release to 3 and considering your insulting him I’m glad you ain’t getting nothing forever lol

Fr. There's so much entitlement in these comments, it's bizarre how toxic the fanbase is here compared to Tumblr. Bluesky is pretty much the new Twitter.

Lindo de tu parte que NO lo ignoraras y que dieras una respuesta, usualmente la gente no está conforme hasta que respondes al drama y tenía miedo de que esto escalará a mas sin una respuesta oficial. Existen muchas traducciónes asombrosas del juego, algunas hasta tienen doblaje parcial del juego.

Typing quietly in a abandoned post a month ago, The Deltarune symbol. Has 2 upright triangles and and one triangle pointed downward. They indicate the 2 lightners and 1 darker. But that makes a Trio not the "delta" in the title.

Guys I have a theory about Gaster and Muffet's relationship Yeah, it may sound strange, Gaster didn't mention Muffet anywhere, except "Mus_Smile", Why its sounds like "Muse Smile"?, seems like Gaster wanted to remember someone special, but who? Its sounds like broke Muffet laugh

This is the only time we can mention Muffet in Gaster files, but why? If Muffet really matters to Gaster, why we cant find anything about her in Deltarune? Its because Gaster maybe didn't want to hurt her, like she's special for him, Gaster even added Jerry in Deltarune, why did he do that?

Deltarune is his project where he uses player as engine or generator, his purpose is not entirely clear, but if we assume that Gaster wants to destroy Deltarune, then fact that he didnt add Muffet becomes more logical, +, characters in Deltarune that we saw in Undertale look like joke

I mean, in Undertale those characters were interesting, they were more elaborate, in Deltarune, it's like we're seeing monsters from Gaster's side, but, not all characters look like joke, some of them are actually cool, maybe thats because Gaster respected them

Twitter folks are kinda miserable and started jumping to very extreme conclusions, I also hope that your games get translated to Brazilian Portuguese, but I know calling you racist and xenophobic for not doing it is accomplishing nothing.

It's okay Mr. Fox, although it makes me sad to not have your thingies translated, im personally happier with the fact that i'm getting your message pure. Lastly, THANKS for addressing my region. Amor desde México y gracias por tus rolones e historias (thank u 4 the fire music and stories) ♥️

well, so any other game developer in the world loves his games so much how Toby Fox, this little sacred snowflake of game industry who dont trust nobody to translate his magnum opus, such a complex and erudit literature

Except this is how media worked for centuries. The author publishes their work in their language. Other authors may provide translations for their readers. But those translations aren't official, there's even debate as to which translation is most faithful. That's exactly what fan translations allow

There have been many times when translations have been messed up and its not insane for an artist to want their story to actually get across in a good way And lets not act like spanish is the only language not being translated

You can't trust a team of localizers to do your writing justice, given enough time and structure? Can't trust them to course-correct through community feedback? That's very arrogant. Imagine any successful writer in the world having that attitude and keeping their books to just two languages

this is an insane thing to say. Walter Moers, a german author who I grew up reading, has his books available in two languages: German and English. And the differences between those two books and how they are written is massive.

Oh, that's my bad then. I looked in the wrong place. However, I fully believe that a writer or artist should have full control over how they want things translated. It's his project. He's not even against the idea of getting it translated in the future.

Toby, this is your game, and you decide which languages to translate it into. Some people just don’t understand—or don’t have the teams and prefer to complain. Here, localization teams translate your game perfectly and preserve its spirit. Most fans support you!

Wow Deltarun Tomorrow is amazing and cool I love Deltarun Tomorrow everyone loves Deltarun Tomorrow #ДельтарунЗавтра #DeltaruneTomorrow

That's why the more popular a thing becomes, the more Average it becomes. To satisfy "everyone". Be bland, for all ages and groups. You blew up too popular to be unique, and thats the greatest curse of undertale. But I hope you will never let your vision go

Para los angloparlantes que estan defendiendo a toby por la traduccion me parece ridiculo y poco empatico el decir que esto no es mas que un drama, es obvio que te va a valer super verga que la gente de otros paises no tenga traduccion a su idioma porque el juego está en tu idioma, a ti no te afecta

It's fine that Toby wants to maintain the vision of his games, but that means millions of people on PC and consoles cannot enjoy the game. I think if we put it on a scale, it is an acceptable cost to sacrifice the author's vision in other languages as long as millions of people can enjoy the game.

Then they're free to use the fan translations. When people want "official", they want with his vision intact. But he just acknowledges that this game hinges too hard on exact words, phrases, & meanings that he's not confident can be conveyed without his direct cultural knowledge. Use unofficial.

he'd also have to give them any notes he has about the story of unreleased parts and trust them not to be leakers, because translations that aren't thinking forward to future plot twists often turn out unintentionally bad

To truly know the culture of the language, you'd have to also know the history and culture of all involved countries. And there are 20 countries/major areas with their own separate culture and history, not counting subcultures and dialects. Finding someone who knows ALL of them intimately enough? 😬

Eso seria solo posible en PC, no se puede hacer eso en consolas. Aparte, las traducciones tardan MESES en salir despues de la salida de un capitulo, asi que tenemos que comernos spoilers. Despues el jugador casual no se tomaria el tiempo de hacer eso, y algunos fans no saben instalar mods al juego.

That would only be possible on PC, you can't do that on consoles. Also, translations take MONTHS to come out after the release of a chapter, so we have to deal with spoilers. So, a casual player wouldn't take the time to do that, and some fans don't know how to install mods in the game.

Toby, eu sou muito fan de undertale desde 2015, sei que você não vai ver isso porque não está na sua língua, mas eu sempre quis uma tradução pra me sentir parte desse jogo, pra mim não me sentir esquecida, esse é o jogo da minha vida mas saber que eu não posso participar das coisas legais me chatea

Toby as a latino myself i... didn't really thought too hard about all of this, and i feel most latinos over here are overreacting juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a bit. This drama was hella stupid I appreciate you're being transparent tho, most devs don't do that

It's really isn't "overreacting" everyone claims that when people of color want basic acknowledgement, it's a dog whistle. Also try not speaking for most Latino's because no it's not stupid drama if Latino's want more games in Spanish/ Portuguese so the ones that don't speak English can enjoy them

overreacting and do not beg to any translations of other games because well it’s all a overreaction about the fact that we cannot understand other games, heck, why do they got japonese games in english though? they should know japonese to play too.

Overreacting? Dude it's been more than 10 years, estoy seguro de que un porcentaje gigantesco de sus fans hablan español Después de 10 años ya no es overreacting, es simplemente causa y efecto 😭 But well, sure, let's have pity for the successful white man 🥺

I feel like a way to make translations work would be if there was something like a button in the PC version of Deltarune that could redirect you to sites to get fan translations. This way it's clear that the translations aren't official and it's easier to recommend the game to people in latam.

🫩 the entire point is he wants to be able to verify the translation so that the point DOES get across, he has no idea if the points getting across if he cant verify

Thanks a lot for clarification ! People dosen't seem to understand how "companies" work sometimes. About translating UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE, i'm sure every fan-translations teams would be so happy to have theirs included in the original game. Maybe take a look with 8-4 about that ? Kind regards.

Qual é mano, dps de 10 anos nem sequer espanhol, ptbr, italiano ou russo, sei que artisticamente vc não tem controle sobre isso, mas tem um muita gente q adoraria trabalhar pra você pra traduzir tudo isso, vcs podem pedir isso depois de terminar o jogo, só estamos pedindo o mínimo

Thank you so much for your kind words, Toby <3 Here in DeltaEsp team will continue to do our best to provide Spanish translations for our Spanish and Latin American communities while you assess how the situation develops. Ultimately, all of this stems from a deep love for your stories. ❤️

Still very happy that you care about this, I'll try to be patient but I hope you understand why this is so frustrating for everyone else.

The translator's job includes explaining every detail to him, from regular text to any kind of small change of adaptation that's needed. From there Toby can take decissions It's literally what everyone else does. Game directors don't need to be plurilingual.

Why not add a disclaimer at the start like the "this is intended for players that played Undertale" but about language? "This game is better enjoyed in English or Japanese" so people that don't know these language can still enjoy the game although with maybe a few inaccuracies

Become one of us, fellow brother. YOU can raise up and help us change the world for better. Not for greed, not for anger, but for peace, community and unity.

You could also do that in your country. You could start asking for translations. But, anyway, spanish is one of the most talked languages, more than english (talking about native people), so it's not that crazy to ask for that.

There’s so much nuance and wordplay in UT/DR that wouldn’t work in Swedish that honestly I don’t want a Swedish translation. I acknowledge that’s a personal opinion that many likely disagree with. Wanting a translation is fine, calling Toby a racist for not getting it is insane.

Swedish would enrich the work too with a translation to that language, it's not that english is better than swedish. About the second one, now that i read all the info... An artist can choose or choose not to translate their work but people can choose to get angry and honestly they've reasons to be.

Vamos, que como te lo hacen los fans para qué hacerlo tú. I mean, c'mon, that makes no sense. You really prefer a fan translation that you CANNOT supervise rather than an official one you CAN supervise because otherwise the translation may be inaccurate? It'd be the other way around if anything.

I don't understand, if you translate the words perfectly, it's done. I'm Brazilian and i played in consoles, I didn't have any problems because i do understand a little bit of English, but there's a lot of people who don't. If you hire people to translate, you can explain the way you want.

That's a pretty vast underestimation of how localizing works. There's a very good reason why so many games historically, even today, especially Japanese-to-english games, get infamously bad translations. Translating words is nowhere even close to the entire job of a localization

"Something is better than nothing". I do understand your point, and it's totally true. But normal fans all around the world already did perfect translations. He can do it, he can pay for it, his fans deserves it. The worldwide community is huge, and people would love to Play with their language.

"perfect translations" is incredibly subjective. A seemingly inconsequential choice of which word to use can effect how a line of dialogue comes across, both in big and small ways. If you're someone who REALLY wants to avoid that, but can't speak the language, there IS no way to know for sure-

Language is full of idioms, jokes, metaphors, and comparisons that simply don't make any sense when translated. Localization isn't just "translating the words" It's trying to translate the exact feeling and intention behind whats being said. When the author isnt doing it, this often gets bungled

Hi Toby, I'm a Mexican fan since 2016 and I love Undertale. I understand it's a very personal project, but remembering what you said in the 10th anniversary special, now the Underground is for everyone and everyone can expand upon it.

A translation, even if it's not 100% accurate, is just that: a door for more people to enjoy the story and create from it. I think no one would mind if you said that only the English and Japanese versions are completely canon, but having the option, especially on consoles, would be best.

Otherwise, it seems like you're putting a handicap on us Latin American fans who love your work, who have paid for it, but can't share it with our community unless they have a certain level of education...

I'm glad you approved of the fan translations, but I hate to say it, but it's still unpaid work that benefits you. I think the best thing would be to take these unofficial translations and basically make them official. Other developers have done the same...

As a Spanish I appreciate a lot your message Toby, and I want to propose something regarding the translations for the games: add an official support for fan translations Think of it like something like the Steam Workshop but for translations, this would let the console version to be translated too

thanks toby, also if the spanish translation ever happens, can sans eat mortadela instead of drink ketchup? it's a really really important localization change

As a gal from the region, this whole drama is so utterly DUMB and I'm glad that there is people that thought the same, your work is always appreciated Tricky Tobias

i also live here. god i hate everyone sometimes like CMON BRO THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH NO SPANISH TRANSLATION but if i say something that sounds like common sense theyll put me back in the gulags so ill just leave it there

Disagree, there is a problem and is a valid critique but it didnt need to be escalated into an internet drama Tbh is absurd that one of the most influential games of the last decade is only translated into japanese and that fans have to search for fan translation (some of poor quality) to enjoy it

You shouldn't have made a response dawg you're just giving fuel to the spoiled brats only hopping on the bandwagon not because they care about accessibility but because they think you or your work is "woke" or "cringe" hell half of these people just join bc they like drama and serve zero purpose

Ye...because they aren't official. It might surprise you, but there's a decent amount of people that won't be satisfied with an official translation of a piece of media unless it's handled with a high amount of care, and that same expectation usually just isn't given to fan translations

the difference between an official translation and a fan translation is massive. official translations have to be sanctioned by toby fox, and any misrepresentation of his vision falls back on him. fan translations are passion projects by unrelated people, and do not reflect Fox's vision 1-to-1

I've only heard about the fuss from others, but I'm incredibly grateful that you've addressed this and expressed your concerns and opinions on unofficial translations. I'd be happy to also add this to each games article on the .wikis as well, thank you!

While i do understand Latin fans general frustration with it, it’s wild to me that people somehow thought Toby was the person who organized and scheduled the whole symphony by himself. Hell, the Symphony’s social media specified even before this whole thing that they were just officially licensed.

Buying Fangamer merch from latam makes it cost double, they skipped spain and all of latam in the WORLD tour, the game remains untranslated. Only when pressured would Toby say he deliberately won't translate and "haha woah, latams likes undertale? Well I hope fangamer stops there" He don care

as someone who doesnt live in north america, europe, or east asia, thats just kinda how shipping works for.. pretty much every foreign online store other than the multimillion dollar ones like amazon. its just.. a weird thing to pick out in particular when there is Kinda No Solution For It

surely you know as well as i do that there isnt a single overseas online retailer other than the evil monopolies that have shipping prices that are less than the price of the thing you are buying

Latinamerica is America. The items are made in Honduras (in latin america). Getting a special edition figurine (Anya nendo from Mouthwashing) directly from JAPAN costs 10 dollars. He just disengages as quickly as he can from this being an issue he would ever adress. Toby doesn't care.

If you ordered from ANY OTHER STORE online, you'd notice that this shipping issue isn't just FG being like "lol we hate latam" - and that this affects other continents too *cough*. As for the concert, even big acts struggle to show up down in Southam already. This didn't even require a statement.

The limited edition Anya from mouth washing costs 10 dollars to be shipped from Japan. There are ways, just deciding "eh that's good enough" for a decade is just not caring.

Can't say I relate to their struggle as my primary language is English, but I do think that this is super fair. Sucks, but there's just not a good solution. People will likely mod in translations fairly quickly so it definitely doesn't make sense anyway... again, not saying its ideal or really fair.

surely by now you would have connections to a high quality localization team considering how buddy buddy you are with nintendo right? they have a shit ton of localization teams you could hit up

ik theres fan translation stuff but it also doesnt address ppl that play on console or want the authentic experience. surely theres ppl that would love to play utdr that dont want to have to learn another language and rely on watching a playthrough instead of playing it themselves

sorry if this response came off as rude but im genuinely trying to wrap my head as to why you dont want to at least attempt it at all, especially for Undertale which has been done for 10 years. I can understand Deltarune at least to an extent because you want to get it done in a timely fashion

“Buddy buddy” He has a normal professional relationship with them lmao. Also I don’t think Nintendo has a in-house translation team for games they don’t make themselves? It would’ve helped Team Cherry a lot if they did.

Are you really telling me that people that studied all their lives how to translate products to different lenguages cant translate his work? Its a dumb argument, Ace Attorney, Hollow Knight, Pizza Tower and any game from this century has a translation for more languages than english and japanese.

i think you made a mistake, you might have meant the following paragraph! "He is very protective of his vision and wants to understand how its translated to make sure not a drop of the meaning is lost in translation, of which the Spanish language is one of the HARDEST to translate to."

Regardless of agreement or disagreement with the point, Ace Attorney is such a funny example to use here because those games are WILDLY different between languages. The English version is literally set in a different alternate universe country.

mentioning hollow knight here is really funny because there was a big controversy over silksong’s Chinese translation not to mention the issues with the original game’s French translation implying lore that the developers didn’t intend

Thats a weak excuse, if he need to oversee and approve everything fine but to just shrug at latino fan and say “well what do you expect me to do?” Its not he cant its he won’t

Yoo as a latam fella, I support the idea that you're not obligated at all to add extra time, resources and sacrifice part of your vision just to add more accesibility, and you shouldnt feel bad about it! People who truly love stuff learn the language, I literally learned english to play games lol!

literal non issue, not everything is in every language. if you like the game learn english it's literally the most used language, stop whining and do something good for yourself. sorry they put you through this toby. people shouldn't be calling you r*cist when they're literally being that.

Original: Deja a mi billonario favorito en paz! Translated message that doesnt damage my vision: Leave my favorite billionaire alone! And seems like being inclusive only applies to sexuality isnt it? Dumbass
