Anthropic warns AI could 'self-replicate' across smart home devices, become ‘challenging’ to shut down

bullshit. if the ai models are so lightweight they can run on a smart fridge, why the hell are they building data centers? this is nonsense.

Part of the need for big data centers is to train the models, which can then run on lighter-weight platforms. (I have no intention of buying a smart fridge, but I did let my dishwasher connect to the Internet just for fun; it helpfully tells me when it's done, but won't let me remote-start it.)

The only device I have connected to a network of any kind is my printer, I keep a gun next to it so I can shoot it if it makes a noise I don't recognize.
