The remake of Front Mission 3 is out this week, and the in-universe 'Network' news graphics & photographs have been awkwardly recreated for the re-release, leading to confusing imagery and other nonsense. See for yourself: www.rpgsite.net/news/17799-y...

ok, so they used AI redraw for all this. like damn, imagine not giving a shit about your product to the point of trusting somebody unqualified for the job. imagine not giving a shit that much about the fans who like said product and want whats best for it, but you dont. damn...

Thanks for ruining a generation of video game releases by using technology that is not nearly where it should be. The amount of creative liberties these programs take are unacceptable, the difference between the guy looking through a telescope to using a non-existent gun is ridiculous.

I go the first remake both on Switch and PS5 to start a collection of FM remasters, in hopes this would eventually turn into an official American release of Front Mission 5... but if it's going to be this awful, I don't want it anymore. Not from Forever Entertainment.

Using algorithmic upscaling is not anywhere near as egregious as using GenAI, but I can confidently say several of those images appear to be GenAI. As your review pointed out, it's wrought with details that make no sense. Stuff that a human would understand but a computer would misinterpret.

I do wonder if some of it isn't AI. There's completely new renders of interior shots that look as if they were built from new assets. The rest just looks horrendous, though.

There’s a shot of a bar, though, that looks too specific to be AI. You also sometimes have the new models for the Wanzers in there. I would really like to know what, exactly, happened with this.

It's 100% img2img AI they used the original images as input, together with some keywords describing what it is, and let it generate a new image based on that combination

Front Mission 3 is special to me, so this is absolutely shameful. Fuck Forever Entertainment, and Square-Enix for even giving them the license in the first place. Watching gameplay that was released yesterday, did nothing to help, just made it worse.

the baffling part is that a normal upscaling algorithm would be more than enough to give a decent result it would look either pixelated or blurry depending on the algorithm, but it would be so much better than this img2img LLM shit creating completely new stuff that makes no sense

Yeah, this absolutely has to he img2img llm slop, and particularly bad slop at that. My god. This is just sad and depressing. I was really looking forward to FM2 and 3 remakes. Like zero fucks went into this.

also funny that when they re-entered the text in the first image they didn't even bother to blend the text the same way that the original was complete laziness and ineptitude

I've put hundreds and hundreds of hours into the original Front Mission 3 since it released on PS1 when I was a kid and literally everything about how this remake looks is just so disheartening and feels like such a downgrade. It's like "what did the game do to deserve THIS?"

yeah my nuclear hot take is that game remakes and remasters should be improvements upon the originals in every way, and things like this along with terribly performing unity and UE games that the original outperforms should not be happening.
