The biggest target I've ever seen on my books. Texas placed Banned Book Club and Occulted on a state-wide list of illegal "dirty books." Having them in any school could lead to state takeover where the government could shut down the library entirely and convert it into a student detention center.

I seriously don't remember anything in The Banned Book Club that even the most socially conservative of censorious busybodies would object to. It's anti-censorship and anti-authoritarian of course, but these same people love to pretend they're victims of censorship, that they're being silenced.

Texas Republicans: "Big-government state censorship! 😱" Also Texas Republicans: Actual big-government state censorship. 😒

Thank you for your work it’s important and meaningful. I bet the biggest sin of those two books, the most dangerous thing for them is that they both offer hope and a way out of cults, censorship and authoritarianism.

Ol Dan really letting everyone know that sex makes him uncomfortable. I guess an act that literally no one wants to voluntarily perform along with you starts looking scary after a while. Or he’s just a whiny piss baby who can’t get any.

These aren't "dirty books." They're hopeful stories of young people making their lives and countries better through a passion for reading. I suspect that the reason Mr. Patrick dislikes them is because he doesn't want people to realize that he's acting just like the real historical villains in them.

What's it take to make a book illegal in Texas schools? There's a handy tagging system. BRUCE means one dude in Florida doesn't like it. RB means they asked ChatGPT and did no further research They added any book on book rating sites, even if, like mine, they're rated 2, which is basically PG.

Being on this list is not a badge of honor. It means our work is being weaponized against schools, teachers and librarians to harm students. To replace libraries and learning with confinement and punishment.

"convert it into a student detention center." haha wtf does that mean like after school detention orrrr
