What gets me, is both the only woman I knew for a long time who'd had an abortion (she'd have died otherwise) and the only family I knew who'd done IVF (couldn't have had kids without it, mom had a medical issue) were Evangelical Christians. In both cases they were run out of the church by fanatics.

I'm vastly less surprised that they're coming for contraception than what just happened in Alabama with IVF, because the "hormonal birth control is actually an abortion" rhetoric has been out there for years.

Right-wing women are far more likely to vote AND to vote as their husbands tell them to. (Source: professional pollster I know.) This is also not incommensurable with other expressed preferences on abortion legality.

It's for the same reason that they aren't trying to ban tubal ligations. (Unless I've missed that!) Doctors already try very hard to talk people out of surgical sterilization because "What if you change your mind?"

They already have a lot of mindset capture among practitioners in many places. I wasn’t able to get the scalpelless procedure because the guy at the place I’d be covered at didn’t serve men without children, and the other guy who would only did the more invasive procedure.
