Desperately seeking a home, life-partner, & realistic optimism. The anti-intellectualism, anti-science, ignorance, antipathy, bigotry, corpo/authoritarian-bootlicking in my country terrifies me. Facts. Art. Music. Empathy. Love is a behavior not a feeling.

All these corps changing all these products to force in so-called “AI” shit that nobody wants/needs, when the whole thing is a delusion of clerics in a weird tech industry religion that doesn’t/can’t deliver on claims, making no profit… …is like a reverse Y2K project installing inevitable failure.

This too: if humans are going to claim the higher “value” ground above others in the animal kingdom, we damn well better demonstrate our capacities for empathy, logic, rationality, critical thinking. Empathy for monstrous people isn’t excusing them. It’s owning that our toxic culture created them.

2 days in a row I find like-minded people on this topic. It‘s a relief because of “left”-claiming accounts (trolls?) promoting violence & antipathy toward ”those who don’t deserve empathy” pisses me off and sickens me. Our toxic culture made all of these monsters. We must own it to change it.

I appreciate finding other people who are informed enough to have an accurate and rational take on this pathological technology…

YES: it’s what THEY want. Corpos, bigots, grifters; ultra-privileged, authoritarian, deluded legislators; etc. They push for shit MOST people DON’T want/haven’t asked for. Pushing again & again after society says no. Trying lame new angles, “reasonable”, Centrist™ language & emotional manipulation.

Once again, @bsky.app is crashing the tab on Safari (iOS 26.7) every time I try to post with photos from my photo library. TECH SUCKS #techsucks #fucktech #fuckthecomputerindustry #whatisthegoddamnedpoint

On being friends after: Being rejected by the person you love is destructive to self-esteem/worth, but just wait: it may become throughly monstrous upon seeing who they pursue instead/after you.

How can their choices NOT reflect upon us?? I feel like worthless fucking garbage knowing all that I now know. And no, it’s not subjective on my part when she’s lamenting being so deeply hurt and confused by the one who came AFTER.

This is insult after injury. It is deeply disturbing to watch the one you love subject themselves to the antithesis of your values as a relationship partner. Any kind claims of my good qualities and worth come across as unbelievable. Show, don’t tell.

Crying alone in the dark of a Philly hotel room where I’ve been supporting my best friend through cancer treatment. Checkout @11; lots of driving. I‘VE NOT SLEPT AT ALL. I’m broken by being repeatedly abandoned by the women I commit to. I’ve been mostly alone for 22 years. I can’t do this anymore.

Since there’s dating app discourse: they’re scammy exploitative abuses of human loneliness. Also, here‘s me showing off (normally masked at socially-isolating, alone-amongst-people Planet Fitness outings b/c best friend’s cancer); I deleted OKCupid for being horrific and I have no dating profile:

She ❤️ the photo (fresh haircut) in iMessage; broke up w/me 6 days later 9 years ended from 2038 miles away I’ve no idea how to start again. 50. Poverty. PTSD. My only assets: a house; my personality. Stuck in a conservative, cigarette-addicted region where atheists, vegans, progressives, are rare

If we decide that somebody's rights are disposable, there's literally nothing left protecting my rights or your rights. Trans rights are human rights and that means everybody. We all have human rights, or nobody does.

Mekka Okereke@mekka.mekka-tech.com

I don't need to use my right to be trans in public. Because I am not trans.🤷🏿‍♂️ But I do need to make sure that the government can't take the right to be trans in public away from someone that is trans. This isn't complicated.

Humans AREN’T fundamentally bad! We’re fundamentally VULNERABLE to allowing toxic culture to form, creating & elevating pathological members; letting them trick us into granting them more than their fair share. We’re vulnerable to the manipulation of those who behave in ways the rest of us WOULDN’T.

Whatever the political or economic system, if it isn’t FOUNDED in preventing toxic culture manufacturing pathological personalities (monsters are made, not born)… …if it REWARDS the abusive behavior of said pathological people… …it WILL become the dystopia now threatening our very existence.

We must do uncomfortable work to know, to prevent, and to interrupt the elevation of pathology in our society & ourselves. Knowing may be painful, but it’s a tool we can use at every branch of our continued personal development, and it can impact everything around us.

The human species is not evil; it’s vulnerable to the very same mental complexities that make it powerful. Those complexities allow us to poison our social environment until pathology emerges in the population. This isn’t evil; it’s biology. We have the capacity to inoculate against it.

Self-knowledge & education are the best tools our species has at its disposal, yet we utilize them so infrequently. Once pathology rises to the top of social hierarchies, those tools are sabotaged & oppressed, lest they lead to any pathological “leaders“ being seen for what they are and deposed.

If you were convinced to support some seemingly “reasonable limitation” or constraint because you felt it would help your survival & comfort (employment/housing competition, prices/taxes, etc.), ask yourself now: “Have I benefitted?” If you HAVE benefitted, was it worth people being hurt & killed?

There are few absolutes on being good people, but there are some: • NEVER punch DOWNWARD; don’t associate w/those who DO • Know your biases; beware their feeding • If you’ve done wrong, OWN IT. Confronting ourselves, keeping our egos in check, is the best tool for finding & following a good path

There’re few ABSOLUTE rules of good/bad alignment analysis; there ARE *some*: • If you’re being emotionally encouraged against any group of vulnerable people, you’re being MANIPULATED by BAD people (or their agents) • If they go after one vulnerable population, they WILL go after others; maybe you

No matter a policy’s name, no matter what someone tells you it’s for when they ask you to empower them to enact it, its PURPOSE is WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES: Defunding & gatekeeping health & social services punishes ALL of society. “Mass deportation” causes concentration camps, brutality, and death.

If you’re not hateful, pathological, or a cultist, you’re one of we normal people. In that case, regardless of affiliation, chances are good that most of our core ideologies align… but you may not know what’s behind the mask of politeness or “reasonableness” worn by those influencing your feelings.

You might not know the facts of the “policies” with which you’ve aligned. You might be unaware of their hidden motivators & actual outcomes. Perhaps it’s trust in confident speakers; perhaps it’s a lack of time & emotional capacity; perhaps it’s fear of discovering wrongness. Perhaps: human frailty.

That this works on people doesn’t make us evil, stupid, or cruel. It means we’re HUMAN BEINGS. If we’re not taught (or haven’t acquired) complex human behavioral awareness, critical thinking skills, and a will toward self-confrontation, we can fall for emotional manipulation. It’s human frailty.

If we don’t spend time & effort learning historical context for things we don’t understand, we blow them off as uninteresting, irrelevant, “political”, etc. Attaining & maintaining a state of informed awareness is exhausting. It’s made all the worse as pathological “leadership” oppresses us.

We’re vulnerable to pathological people’s behavior because, as NORMAL people, we struggle to conceive of their motivations, and therefore struggle to recognize the danger. A thrashing, screaming beast is easy to fear. A polite, smiling narcissist, sociopath, etc., is a thing we must LEARN to fear.

Failing to recognize the masked threat, we’re VULNERABLE to adopting their “reasonable concerns” about those they use as scapegoats. We’re vulnerable to their veils of politeness & decorum… though we’ll flex on niceness should they be crude toward someone about whom we feel discomfort.

Because our culture isn’t founded in critical thinking, compassion, and awareness of pathology, we’re VULNERABLE to being convinced (via varying amounts of clever rationalizations & emotional manipulations) to not only elevate pathological people, but to ADOPT their irrational ideologies.

The technofascists actively believing so-called “AI” is intelligent are ignorant and/or deluded, but all of them believe they’ll puppeteer it into fulfilling their wants: propping up their ideologies & sociopolitical dominance; magically doing all the hard intellectual labor for them, for free.

“I hope you get the help you need” is one of the worst fucking platitudes ever. I’ve been telling everyone what I NEED for decades. It’s not on offer. I’ve been mostly alone, trapped, and repeatedly abandoned. I’m 50 years old. Don’t fucking tell me it’ll get better unless you’re delivering proof.

”There are people who have it worse than you.” “People survive worse traumas.” Yeah, I fucking know that. It hurts all the more to witness the endless suffering out there. I can’t help myself, let alone others. But, hey, thanks for telling me my suffering isn’t bad enough.

Via sci-fi, I loved the idea of AI (real AI, not today’s fake BS grifter LLM shit). I developed anger at endless “evil AI” trope plots, and at the throwaway valuation of & bigotry against AI postulated in fiction. One day someone pointed out: the goal of AI is slavery. Now I oppose creating real AI.

Foz Meadows@fozmeadows.bsky.social

To me, the foundational tension of modern AI is this: If the stated goal is to create a human-level intelligence that can replace human workers but lacks human rights, then the real aspiration is slavery; but if human-level intelligence is impossible, then the industry's stated goal is a lie.

I love this thread about matter “transportation”. It is rational & logical, instead of fantastical & philosophical. I commented on it at the end, so read the whole thread… and then stay for the commentary, ha ha…

I fell for the Verge’s framing because actual BlueSky devs/owners have been awful to their own users, and because everything is just so fucking insanely exhausting anymore. Sharing in culpability for engaging & liking the rage posts 🫣🤦🏽‍♂️

Asher HELLbein@asherelbein.bsky.social

Anyway, I think it's worth calling this out really explicitly: the Verge's social media team seemingly deliberately framed this in a way that would get people to fly off the handle, and that is a gross strategy that we shouldn't just wave off

Everyone of the techbros seems to be deeply disturbed, bordering on derangement/insanity. And it's deeply disturbing how much influence they have over the world we live in.

It’s a huge social faux pas for men to express this, but fuck it: I‘m fucking lonely & seriously need to be held by a kind, loving, trustworthy woman, but my best friend is 215 miles away. Sudden intense pain felt momentarily life-threatening. FAR too much physical & emotional pain this year😭💀

If you feel lonely, it’s legit; it matters. I‘ve no advice you’ve not already had thrown at you. But here’s something maybe not said enough: you’re ALLOWED to fucking hate loneliness. You’re ALLOWED to fucking CRY. More people should cry. There’d probably be less violence in the world.

It’s not a personal failing to hate being alone. It’s perfectly human to feel vulnerable. People need people. People cry when pain is too much. Fuck the toxic culture that says otherwise.

I go to a gym to exercise for mental & physical health; to be among people. It’s a perverse teasing isolation: alone, amidst all those fit, beautiful, young people I‘ve no business talking to. Friends & couples working out together, and then there’s solo 50-year-old me. I leave worse than I arrived.

I‘m super fucking vulnerable and hate that our society makes it something to mock & feel ashamed of. It’s not just men suffering loneliness: My exGF continues expressing dismay at her social frustration where she’s living. We all need connection & affection. Therapy & fitness can only do so much.

Sudden intense physical pain is really scary. Existentially. Like, threat-to-life, scary, and therefore emotionally draining. There’s so little to drain. The amount of pain I’ve endured this year is obscene and I need it to stop. (hernia surgery with severe nerve pain and a relationship breakup)

I swear to fuck, Apple tests NOTHING. Had a timer on iPad (why iPad took the Siri command when iPhone was right there, too, I don’t know). A while later I called out “Siri, how’s the timer?” It said “There’s a timer with about 10 minutes left.” NO, fuckface! It was done, chiming almost inaudibly!!
