So... Some jowly cheeked fruitloop reckons Arabs don't produce literature... Instead of giving him more breath, let's instead celebrate Arab literature. Starting with 1001 Nights... Which gave literature the embedded narrative technique & without which, Disney would have made far less money.

Like… this baseline assumption that things from sources that are treated as authoritative obviously must thus be trustworthy is circular reasoning that is doing and will continue to do a lot of harm unless and until we tackle this shit at a BUNCH of levels of society.

So this is how it works DNA from patient's tumor is sequenced to find mutations in the cancer cells, that produce neoantigens. The mRNA vaccines are tailored to the recipient’s tumor-specific neoantigens. The immune system is primed to recognize & attack cancer cells carrying those neoantigens.

Literally the first shot of this "historically accurate" Odyssey movie shows a boat that A) Has no steering oar. B) Is under full sail *and* full rowers while entering a cave, presumably to dock inside.

It's funny how the Defenders of Western Civilization really want Odysseus to be this heroic patriarchal figure when he is canonically kind of a dirtbag.

Because its a patriarchal costume that they have been forced to wear since they were boys and they were told if they take it off they will suffocate, so they break themselves to fit it out of existential terror. Ironically, its the costume that's choking them

which is of course true of most of the campist-left's engagement with the rest of the world: a refusal to even take these people at their own word, let alone study these countries on an empirical level, and instead forcibly transfer the debate to an intra-west power struggle

When people explain Trump helping Russia by saying Putin has "dirt" on him, they're absolving Trump of responsibility. In blackmail, the target is coerced to act against their will. I don't think the "dirt" theory intends to argue Trump's a victim and would otherwise be acting better. But it does.

Any please, please - privileged Americans, Australians, Europeans, British people, stop flaunting the visa system while brown people are being thrown in detention for doing less. Holy shit.

I hope this guy goes to the Senate because I want people in the Senate who will talk up this issue. Lots of things about this country need to be fixed, but this is a big one that people can agree on.

A some point we're going to have to address the elite idea that anything is ok as long as money was made if we want to have an actual, working society.

one of the key factors in the souring of Silicon Valley culture is the whole "acceptance of failure" element... it's one thing to not let the failure of some enterprise SaaS startup hold you back, but when your startup causes children to self-harm at scale maybe that failure should stick with you

1/ Today, I'll finally be able to see the Gibney's Musk documentary (in Santa Fe). Given what we read yesterday about Musk's grotesque smear of Mary Comans, & what we read today about him unilaterally handicapping Ukraine's ability to defend against Russia, I worry Gibney isn't harsh enough.

needless to say, the fact that the president is personally participating in *heavy sigh* generative animal snuff content at a time when his secretary of *heavier sigh* war is threatening to livestream an execution presents a more pressing and specific issue... but the moral rot runs super deep here
