didn't seem to me that such a capital intensive business could have huge profit margins! but Claude code seems to be the secret sauce

on the other hand it does stand to reason that "highly capable productivity tool for business" (Claude) would sell like gangbusters, while "Nazi CSAM generator" (Grok) would not

also kind of funny that it going YOLO with chatbots and image generators in 2022 appears to be extremely stupid, business-wise. that kind of shit is like two-thirds of why people hate AI, and it turns out to be unnecessary

the legal risk with image and video generation in particular seems nightmarish to me. a sensible business guy would not touch that with a 10 foot pole

"let's make the AI that is best at using computers which also makes it the best at improving AI" *should* have been an obvious play. i mean, if you gave me *one* infinity stone, i'd use it to try to get the others, not immediately figure out how to short-term monetize it!

Potentially even short and medium term profitability. Look at the rate that GLM, DeepSeek, and Kimi are closing the gap on fable class models, at much cheaper prices. And coders are figuring that out as soon as the CFO slaps on budget restrictions.

FWIW, this also feels a lot like "the truism that B2B is a better bet to be profitable than anything else continues to hold".

The two best use cases for AI are - fold some proteins for me - here's this discrete unit of code that's small enough that I'm pretty sure you won't screw it up; get that done while I work on this other stuff Anything else is somewhere between pointless and actively harmful

Additionally, you start expanding your thinking about “small pieces of code” to include things like “dealing with health insurance” or “your HOA” and you can suddenly make a whole lot of headway.

the steel man case for that nonsense is that it got CAPITAL sufficiently excited to throw around the insane gobs of money in enough directions that one (1) AI company was able to land on a legitimate business case which, being boring B2B disrupting major players, would never have landed on its own

plus the SVG drawings are adorable! also, lol, bots can use tools so why internalize the risk when they can just make sure Claude is good at using Blender etc? (although evidently Argon is even better at that specific task; seem similar from my use of both)
