Oh, dear. I had the good fortune to meet him a few times at conventions and had lunch with him once in Australia. Such a lovely fellow and of course an iconic figure in science fiction. RIP.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

His bit sitting in the Captains chair then shooed out, had to wonder if t was a nod to ST. But loved Bester as a good bad guy.

Imagine the fortitude to play a Russian character on TV in the USA in the 60s as a German where the Soviets had half your country under iron lock & key and the Cold War was in full swing.

Few actors ever get a role as defining and memorable as Chekov. Fewer still escape typecasting to to portray someone like Bester, leaving just as indelible a mark, but with the opportunity to show such incredible range. He will be missed.

I met him at two Cons. The first one, in Pasadena, I asked him to sign my copy of the VHS "Moon Trap". He looked at it, then me and said, "You LIKED this shit?" Years later I saw him at another and to my surprise he saw me and said, "Well if It's not my only Moon Trap fan, back again."

I had the pleasure of interviewing him at a con in Omaha for my high school paper, I think it was 1983. Such a charming man.

Seriously one of the scariest villains ever--seemed all polite and jovial but you knew he knew EVERYTHING and would do whatever was necessary to get what he was after. Terrifying.

I had the honor of seeing and getting his autograph at a SF convention in Santa Cruz, back in 1977. Today’s news brought back nice memories of that convention and meeting Walter and the author Allan Dean Foster.

Only two left--Shatner and Takei, and George is looking rocky and uses a wheelchair these days. Shatner's 95, going strong and is apparently immortal, it's crazy.

Star Trek 4, the one with the whales, was on the other day so I watched it/had it on in the background while i was doing some housework. Glad Bones saved him from the primitive medicine of the 20th Century!
