The world may be quite turbulent at the moment, but I think we can all take at least some solace in the fact that libraries, cafés, bookstores, bakeries, museums, and Oxford commas exist.

NASA crewed Mars flyby planning mostly ended by 1970, but interest has revived on a small scale repeatedly in the decades since. Unlike 1960s plans, more recent ones tend to ignore science such missions could accomplish, making them seem like stunts. spaceflighthistory.blogspot.com/2019/12/revi...

The person who originally requested that I make a chalice has not returned my messages so I went ahead and posted the chalices for sale in my etsy shop. They are so cool and perfect for dramatic celebrations of life. I plan on making more. I love the weight and multiple surfaces. At surly.etsy.com

Fun fact: it takes fewer votes to impeach and remove the president than to override a veto.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

You may hear that OpenAI is releasing (among other results) a “proof of pure Yang-Mills in four dimensions.” This is a math result which, if it holds, addresses a formal question for mathematicians but doesn’t actually impact physics in any meaningful way. 🧪 ⚛️

Friends! I’ve only been on my new medicine for a few days but Mum thinks she is seeing some small changes. I have a bit more energy, seem more alert, and I am sleeping a little less. Do you know what hasn’t changed? Baby Dog’s dedication to me. He’s been by my side, watching over me, all the time ❤️

Hey remember a couple months ago when I almost died from sleep apnea and begged y'all to be checked if you have symptoms of sleep apnea? Eric Bauza just died from sleep apnea. We were the same age. Don't ignore sleep apnea.

Do you get a full night's sleep but wake up feeling like death? Does your whole body feel off in ways you can't explain? Research signs of Sleep Apnea. Get a sleep test. You can't diagnose it yourself, cuz you sleepin'.

Did the best research I could, checked ballot twice, dropped it in the mail. (Berkeley makes the other ways - drop boxes few & far between; polling sites only 4 days.) Per info, the 27th is last day to mail with surety, so I beat that by one.

Few actors ever get a role as defining and memorable as Chekov. Fewer still escape typecasting to to portray someone like Bester, leaving just as indelible a mark, but with the opportunity to show such incredible range. He will be missed.
