No it doesn’t. Being an asshole isn’t ideological diversity, it’s just edgelording. Wanting livable wages, healthcare, peace, kindness-those are all supposed to be 99% agreeable stuff. Folks just want to live their lives and occasionally get Friday’s off work. These don’t require a devils advocate.

We’ve already done the experiment of letting right oriented grifters becoming deregulated. It’s called X and we all fled because it became a shit hole.

I interact and engage on bluesky way more than other social networks (and way more than I ever did on twitter) precisely because it's more chill and respectful of folks. I like bluesky exactly how it is.

Also, I would be perfectly happy if it wasn't ideologically diverse. I don't have the need to be challenged on social media. It's a space where I just want to engage with things I have an interest in and with people I like.

Hard agree. But I also hope posting here just becomes 'posting'. We all mix up protocols, servers and platforms. More soft walls would benefit everyone.

As I keep saying these days: playing Devil's Advocate is supposed to be just that-playing. You use it when you need to argue a position or see both sides of a decision, it's not supposed to be a personality trait

Yeah, these people only survive by gaming algorithms. Conflict is one way to do that, since it tends to cause more people to comment and platforms like Facebook amplify threads with many comments.
