"There has been the confirmation - which should not have been needed but looks to have been necessary given so many voters fell for the Brexiters’ fantasy hook, line and sinker - that Brexit has been an enormous mistake" || Business Editor Ian McConnell #RejoinEU

So if you vote reform you get the company that had at the time one policy to take the uk out of EU. They still want us to leave the ECHR despite it having nothing to do with the EU and in all the time it has been in the existence 2 cases from the uk have been delt with.

Couldn’t give a toss what that shit house London dose what the people of Scotland is to get rid of London rule over the people of Scotland the best thing London can do get out the way of Scotland and take your English Monarchy with you

I remain unconvinced about the underlying premise. The nation knew the referendum was advisory and they delivered the result that they had been promised would mean "Unfinished business". Am I alone in thinking we should not assume the electorate is stupid?

We should not assume the electorate is a single entity. Interactions with people online and in reality will tell you that a significant portion of the electorate is stupid. But it wasn't only stupid people that voted or Brexit. Many bloody minded people knew it would be an own goal.

There is a fundamental difference between treating the nation as something coherent with a common purpose and assuming the electorate is a single entity. Democracy depends on the former, and we can choose to do it effectively by imagining that it is smart, or we can imagine that it is stupid...

I don't think the nation does have a common purpose, the referendum shows that. But you're right, the electorate isn't a single entity. A single entity wouldn't choose common sense & at the same time to cut of its nose to spite its face. The electorate is multiple entities, some of which are stupid.

Support for EU conditions for rejoin hits zero - because we haven’t a clue what they would be. Do you go into a car dealership not knowing the price of a car and start the conversation with “I’ll buy it” or “what does it cost?” By all means ask the EU what conditions will apply then we can choose

We know the conditions. Only if you expect a special treatment can you claim that we don't know the conditions. But there's not going to be any special treatment. The only thing to negotiate is a transition period and what's included during the transition. But we should agree a short and simple one

But I have one vote in any referendum just like you. So that is relevant. Perhaps you can help me. What will it cost me to have my savings converted from Pounds into euros? What will the VAT rate be on electricity bills? Once I have a clear honest answer about the cost of joining I will cast my vote

If there has to be a referendum before negotiations start it must include a guarantee that we will get the chance to vote again before the process becomes final. I voted for Brexit but would have voted no once Boris Johnston had made a pigs ear of the negotiations if we were given another vote.

I think including plans to explore what #Rejoin would entail should be included in the next Labour manifesto - and for LD and Greens. I don't personally think referendums are a good way to govern, but if we must have one, yes, at the point of final accession, when people know what they're getting.

I've always assumed this too was a Putin-Russian disinformation campaign like what they did (and are documented to have done) in 2026 in the US, but I don't know that much about Brexit history and I could be wrong.

No, you are correct. Operations like Cambridge Analytica were intended to make Brexit the dress rehearsal for manipulating social media to get Trump elected in 2016.

Brits know & respect Carney, he warned Brits Brexit was a bad idea & Brexitiers tried to destroy him 4 it, when yes won, he stepped up to calm the markets & Brits as politicians hid! He saved Brits pensions! So when they see him shifting 🇨🇦 towards 🇪🇺 Brits 🇬🇧 trust the direction & want to follow it!

Leaving was always a stupid idea but that doesn't auto mean re-joining is the correct response I'd like to but it depends on the Ts & Cs I regard giving up the Bank Of England a step too far but, if Barnier is correct, I'd jump as that - rebate or no rebate www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

independent.co.ukBritain could rejoin the EU on special terms, former chief Brexit negotiator saysUK would not be forced to join the euro or Schengen, Michel Barnier said, but he would not be drawn on Margaret Thatcher’s budget rebate

One more example of voters being led by politicians who are steering them in only one direction, and failing to investigate, analyze, and vote based on facts, rather than emotion. I'm so very tired of stupid people!

Populist anti everything rhetoric wears thin on countries who actually have to live with the toxic/negative consequences… lesson for areas currently flirting with Reich Wing twaddle! You know who you are!

Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa! Haahaahaa <gasp>

The anti-immigrant whining that migrants are moving to Britain contradicts the anti-immigrant whining that they are using Britain to get to Fennoscandia. Whiners are too stupid to know by the end of early 2027 migrants will have fled to Fennoscandia, the Russian and Canadian Arctic, and Greenland.

But that's because cowardly MPs who never wanted Brexit anyway kept us dependent semi-members of the EU which has punished us for our temerity in leaving.* *I've actually seen this argument deployed. Not using "temerity", obvs: their vocabulary doesn't go to four syllables. Three's a stretch.

When Brexit passed is when I realized it was possible Trump could possibly win in 2016. It’s mind blowing that my country was stupid enough to make that mistake a second time, with disastrous consequences.
